I would echo the drink of cold water - my midwife suggested this to me. Babies also move at diferent times of the day or night depending on their mood. It may be that your baby moves more when your active and therefore less able to feel it. It's easier to feel when you're sitting still but not if baby is asleep then!
  • thanks everyone

i will give the mw a quick ring later - she'll tell me not to worry im sure

i see her again at 28 weeks (just after xmas) so if its still the same then i'll see what she advises.

looking at another post today it appears i should have posted this elsewhere - so apologies to anyone that i have annoyed.

i have always (wrongly i now realise) looked at this as a split forum moneysaving and advice :(

will try to make the distinction in future :)

    Thanks again
Do have a look at the replies posted in that thread! you will realise you have no need to apologise. Hope all ok with you x
  • thanks everyone for all the great support

can you believe it! i finally felt it last night - just sitting in a quiet room and the next thing this weird feeling in my stomach - thought i had imagined it (wishful thinking maybe) but no happened again

feel so silly for worrying now lol - oh is walking about like cheshire cat and just a little smug (trying not to say told you so) lol

thanks again - you all helped so much yesterday :)
  • :j Goody!! Now you've felt it, you know what you're looking for!! ..and isn't it lovely! Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy x

Congrats on the pregnancy :j are you due April? My little man was.

I felt Charlie move a lot at first and then it quieted down, apparently he was a night kicker and thats why I didnt feel it as much as I would be asleep!

I found the bath the best way to 'wake him' with a cold drink, my partner thought I looked like something out of Alien with bits poking out and moving around.

As pps have said if you ever feel unsure again just go down to your Maternity Unit I borrowed a doppler off my friend but I couldnt pick anything up with it which made me worry alot more. My midwfie made us worry more, saying it will be kicking @ least 10 times a day, no one knows how many times your baby is going to move and the more fluid you have the less likely you'll feel it. Never feel 'silly' if you get worried its your maternal instinct.

Enjoy the next couple of months x
  • I felt my fisrt proper kick yesterday too :) so i knwo how elated you feel right now :)
  • Congrats - glad you're more reassured. I'm an overweight pregnant lady myself (28+4) and have had all the 'you must be careful', 'diabetes', etc etc but so far there's been nothing to worry about - yay!

I was a bit unsure of the movement until a couple of weeks ago as I just thought it was wind, but now it's definitely him! He usually moves about when I'm sat down adn relaxing so loads in the evening and first thing in the morning, but my OH told me this morning that he often 'lays hands' on my bump before I wake up in the morning and bump's very active then - I just don't feel it cos I'm a heavy sleeper!

Enjoy the new feelings and don't forget how many health peeps are there to help you if you're worried - they hear supposedly 'silly' queries from people every day and are happy to reassure...

Continued health and have a good xmas!

    Hello there,

Miss Kitty, I gave birth nine months ago, and I weighed in excess of 25 stone at the time. My baby was 9lbs 6oz, my third, if anyone wants to know. It was not easy, but both myself and my baby survived, and in (relative) good health too.
