Lack of baby movement
Comments

This happened to my wife on a few occassions were she didnt feel any movement for days. On 3 different occassions we phoned the midwife and went up to the hospital and she was put on a monitor for 45 minutes a time.
We didnt like as we thought we were wasting their time as they are very busy but they did not bother at all and everytime within a few minutes of going on the monitor baby started moving!!!
If you are worried just phone your midwife as baby can pick up your stress and at least it will put your mind at ease.
Sometimes ice cold water does work and I wouldnt recommend the monitors you can buy as I borrowed someones and it didnt pick anything up and gets you even more worried so I would just leave it to the experts.
Hope everything runs smoothly.0 -
If you are worried, please go to see your midwife/GP to have a check. That is the the only thing that will put your mind at rest.0

I wouldnt recommend thos dopplers for home use either, my MW told me that they cause more anxiety for the parenst, rather than being reassuring! The cheaper ones arent very good at picking up a heartbeat, and also we arebt trained to locate a heartbeat as a midwife is.0

Lucozade makes mine wriggle! Regarding the alien hands and feet - they have become the focus of my reoccuring nightmares, the baby pokes his head or arm out and is waving at me - very scary!£4000 challenge

thanks everyone - you've really helped
it's so hard not to worry about everything lol - my mum keeps telling me its only the start and i'll worry 10 times as much when the bump arrives
as my oh keeps reminding me - we have the 4d scan thingy on tuesday so i'll see the bump in all his/her glory then
thanks again x0 -
Cold drink or something sugary, or lie down on your bed, get comfy, turn the lights down and play some music. Different types, baby usually starts moving around and you have a better chance of feeling it. Plus, baby responds to stress by staying still making is stress even more! Or try a bath. If you do get worried call your on-call midwife.
I hated my two moving around, dreadful to admit, but I thought it was horrible! Oh and they get the hic-ups too....0 -

Agree. What is the point in DIY listening-in? It's only good if you know what you listening to (there are other sounds detectable other than the FH), and the knowledge to back things up. Eg - you could be listening in and things not be right, but because you had heard the FH assume that everything was OK if it wasn't. I think people ought to be a bit cautious when trying to DIY.0 -
I wouldn't go for the doppler, made me much more anxious! I was (and hey, still am) very overweight when I was pregnant and my m/w told me to drink cold lemonade to reassure myself if I couldn't feel any kicking. The sugar gets them going and they move away from the cold. When you get bigger, try a bag of frozen peas on your bump (but not for long!)
I know they tell you off about your weight when pregnant but don't get too anxious as it won't do baby much good. I'm happy to say I had no problems due to my weight when I was pregnant, no high blood pressure, no gestational diabetes, nothing (though they didn't half try to find some).0 -
I would definately get the doppler if I were you.
I had one (i rented it, I can give you the website if you want) it was the same as the one the midwives use, and it was an absolute godsend.
At one point I had a massive bleed with loads of huge clots and if I hadn't of had my doppler I don't know what I would have done!
Once I got the hang of using it, I knew exactly where to find the heartbeat and it was very reassuring to have it if I ever felt worried. What the Deuce?0 -
Hi Miss Kitty, Do give your midwife a call if you are worried, Im sure she wont mind and you dont want to be worrying all over the christmas period, having said that I think most women worry about lack of movement at some point, I went up to maternity unit and on a monitor with my last child, he moved after a couple of minutes, typical
