I know i am probably being silly but i am freaking out today
I am nearly 26 weeks pregnant and i still havent felt the baby move.
I have had 3 scans throughout my pregnancy and each time the baby has been moving well and at each midwife appt the heartbeat is strong.
I am very very overweight and i presume that may be having an impact.
I have a 4d scan booked for Tuesday so i just need to try and stay calm till then.
Sorry to rant on but thanks for letting me get it off my chest.
ps its my first baby and my oh says that when he presses gently down on the bump he has felt some movement.
He says if my mw isnt worried i shouldnt be - but easier said than done

            Poor you for being worried.
I've got 3 kids, and found that when I was pregnant, if I poked the bump I cound make it move, but if you are really worried, only the MW will be able to reassure you.
Do you have her phone number? Could you give her a call?
(just remember, babies do sleep - it could just be sleeping!)0

dont panic.( i know its not easy ) I am not a doctor but if other people can see and feel movement then I imagine that maybe your weight is making it more difficult to feel it yourself.
Would it be possible for you to pop in to your GP surgery and ask the nurse to have a listen ? It would put your mind at rest .. Good luck.0

Maybe its worth investing in a pre natal monitor?

If you can hear your baby it will reassure you. Im sure he will make up for lack of movement later on!0

Do you happen to know where your placenta is aswell? I have an anterior placenta (its at the front) this time (had it with my 1st aswell) which does cushion alot of the movements.
You're not asked to keep an eye on regular movements until 28 weeks as before then baby can hide/twist round/kick into your back etc etc so its quite probably having a ball in there and you're just oblivious to it all!
However, if you're getting really worried then do give your mw a call, its what they're there for.
Hope you get kicked black and blue soon

            thanks everyone
i will give the mw a quick ring later - she'll tell me not to worry im sure
i see her again at 28 weeks (just after xmas) so if its still the same then i'll see what she advises.
looking at another post today it appears i should have posted this elsewhere - so apologies to anyone that i have annoyed.
i have always (wrongly i now realise) looked at this as a split forum moneysaving and advice
will try to make the distinction in future
 Thanks again0

I agree that if it's bothering you then why not get yourself a fetal heart monitor.
You can get cheap ones for £23 or more flashy digital ones for about £90
You can always Ebay it when you've finished?
I don't think that weight has anything to do with it btw. My first baby used to kick so much I thought he was doing karate.....whereas my daughters just didn't move around that much....perhaps it's a girl? "One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened." "One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0

Downing a pint of very cold water was the advice from my midwife when i was completing the kickcharts, if i hadn't had the required amount of kicks that day. Apparently the baby can feel the cold through the womb and makes him reposition.
Give it time and you'll see alien hands and feet poking out )"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0

ooh alien hands and feet! scary! (ive only had the foot thing).
as others have said try not to worry. my sister is pregnant with her 4th and is having the same concerns as you, she too is overweight (sorry i dont want to make an issue of the weight thing but thought id mention that she is as maybe its a 'cushion' effect ???. hope i havent offended)
 good luck

Miss Kitty you posted in the right place. Please ignore the other thread you refer to.

Things that can stop you feeling much movement - being overweight, having the placenta positioned on the front of your uterus and if the baby is lying with its back to your front, so all the kicks are towards your spine.
They do say if you havent felt movement by 22 weeks, to contact your MW, so she shouldnt mind you calling her.
A few tricks that ive been told is to drink a cold drink, or eat something sugary, then lie on your left side.
