From a legal perspective, something posted first class (with proof of posting) is deemed to have arrived 2 working days later, unless the contrary can be proven.

So, as some have implied above, context is key. What was it you posted and who is saying it hasn't arrived?

A benefits claim form to DWP and DWP tell me that it has not arrived
You could argue with them (as unless they stamp all mail on arrival then they can't prove that it didn't arrive; they could equally have mislaid/lost it), however the pragmatic approach with the DWP would be to complete it again and send it again - perhaps with a signed-for service this time Or is there an email option?

That would depend what the claim form is for and the consequence of delay... if its a continuation claim and the DWP threatens sanctioning the benefits due to late/non-provision of the form then there is an argument however if its a first claim what can the OP argue? That the DWP should assess their claim based on nothing as they cannot find the form?

Might be a back log in processing mail. By arrived that will someone looking at a screen, no more. Number of working days since you posted isn't that great.

Not sure if you are aware, but post to the DWP goes to a scanning dept who will scan it and it will then be loaded onto the system. But they are known to be behind. So I would worry for a couple of weeks.

Going back pre - covid. We sent a claim form in & it was nearly 3 weeks before we got a text to say thanks for the claim form.

Right thanks but my DWP contact has sent me a second form to fill in already

DWP mail is opened by royal mail in a mail handling centre.
DWP only acknowledge receipt once it is scanned onto theur system.  This typically takes 2 weeks from when you sent it

Well you could fill them in again.
Just one thing do not waste money sending it recorded delivery. As no one at DWP will sign for it.

Signed for are automatically deemed as delivered once post person delivers them and marks it as such on their devices, it will show as delivered ,probably even show the posties scribbled sig, so it doesn’t matter whether DWP want to sign for it or not.

We had planned on using paid for "guaranteed signed for" next time - so at least we would lknow that it had arrived - it seems pointless to use free "tracking" since it doesn't prove anything....

Do they automatically text you straight away - as soon as our letter arrives or do I need to keep asking?
