DRP will no doubt go wherever their Vulture Venture Capital owners direct them - morals don't tend to be high on their list of endearing qualities.

HUZZAH!
Shame about the wait. I suggest we still tell victims to complain to their MPs, and suggest they suggest an interim step be to introduced to cap the charges fifthwith whilst the rest of the process is put into place.
At least now we can get motorists to tell the PPCs and judges that the UK Government has stated that the fake add on debt collection charges are, well, fake add on charges.I married my cousin. Ah yes....VAT. You can run, but you can't hide. I'm waiting for news of legal action and spectacular fines, quite possibly the biggest ever levied. When you think how far back it goes and how strapped for cash the nation is, it's too big an opportunity to miss, surely? It would be overwhelmingly popular with everyone too; apart from those paying the VAT, obviously. I wonder if there would be a discount if paid within a fortnight? Humdinger xx2

A simple answer to help the UK Chancellor of the Handbag would be to increase the levy for PPCs wanting to purchase keeper data from the DVLA (but keep it the same for landowners) to, say £10.I married my cousin. Snakes_Belly said:Energy firms do tend to use regulated debt collectors. DRP are not regulated.
Sovereign Capital have a reported £1Bn in investments and are backed by the pension and retirement funds listed earlier (inc Shell) and by other VC funds.
Sadly the business of debt collection is enormous, and given the troubled economic future that lies ahead, it's more than likely to grow further. The impending Energy crisis is already upon us, hundreds of thousands, if not millions will no doubt fall into debt and it's almost inevitable that there will be a feeding frenzy among debt collectors to partner with Energy firms to do their dirty work for them.7 -
Next week, 15-16 February, sees the BPA's AOS National Conference in full swing. That'll be good! 😊

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Of course pub car parks (as in the article) are NOT going to close! that is just nuts, they managed before PPCS and they will manage after this.

Bye bye DRP, Zenith, DCB Limited, ZZPS et al from the private parking end of the swamp!
Well done @bargepole and @Coupon-mad. 👏
They will do fine, they just can't add on a 70% "fee" and squeeze as much out of people like they have done for years. They can still make money, they just have to work for it - instead of a £60 or £70 they'll just make do with £5 each time which ain't bad for sending a bunch of photocopied letters!
With a real debt the fees for the debt collectors are not to be added onto the customers original debt. The fee is made via arrangement with the person who has a debt, they either pay a one off fee (usually on collection) or upfront if they are stupid! Which is usually at the 10%-20%. Because Parking Charges are not Debts and their industry is unregulated greedy fat cats like Osner just made up their own rules to bully and coerce money out of people who didn't know the law or their rights.
I wonder if it is worth doing a last minute supplementary WS with all this new info on as my case touches down in court next month. DCBL said their fees were "not unfair nor unproportionate" (because their good mate Ossie at the BPA said so!) whereas I argued the contrary and both houses of the UK Government seem to think it is hence them having to intervene this unregulated industry! If it wasn't a problem nor fair then why has a new CoP come into play?!?I don't think we will that smug face from Knutsford any time soon5
