  • Usually get between 7-14 days to put money in , some go further (Shawbrook for example) weeks , months and still open for deposits.
  • I did notice this on my a/c with Newcastle BS

    Authenticate your nominated bank account

Your nominated bank account must be authenticated before it can be used for online transactions. To authenticate your nominated bank account, please follow the link below.

Maybe have to wait for code then authenticate before sending any more ££.

Secure Trust are offering 4.15% on 2 year bond. Only issue with them is when you transfer funds your bank may say they can't confirm the account payee details; Secure Trust say they don't subscribe to it "as they are a small bank" (!!); however i've used them in the past and the funds go into the account fine.
Hampshire Trust Bank are offering 4.32% on 2 year bond still.
Waiting for others to come on board, hopefully pipping the rates with a better offer maybe.

well that code is coming in the post, and as they'll be on strike tomorrow/Saturday, we'll all be looking at next week before receiving it.
from past occurrences, authenticating nominated bank accounts is more for withdrawals than deposits - granted, withdrawals not really an option here, so perhaps more to do with interest payments (e.g, if you're having your interest paid outside of the account).

At the risk of contaminating this thread with useful information, here's a link to an account MSE News has highlighted.

Family Building Society 2-year tracker at base + 0.85%.

    https://www.familybuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/bonds/product-detail/2-year-tracker-rate-bond-(11)

So strictly speaking it's as off-topic as much of the discussion, but I take the spirit of this thread to be more about guaranteed rates and/or limited or no access for a period of time and it fits here better than in the easy access thread,

You say that but I tried recently to move money from my Chase account and it got returned as it wasn't the one I nominated to pay in from so I had to move it in two stages.

It is common for banks to pay and take money from a nominated bank account only.

This is now going past the point when I regret taking out a 2 year fix earlier in the year.  Doesn't seem any option to break it even by paying a penalty (which would probably be worth it given increase in rates).  I assume there is no legal way of getting to your own money once you've fixed (short of the unmentionable of course)

This is one of the reasons why I think ISAs still have their place, even though the rates can be lower. By LAW, they must allow you access, albeit with a penalty.

The one year bond with Newcastle Building Society has now disappeared completely from their website.
