Today's mail brought their note about how MyWaitrose "just got better".
Not for me. It seems I have to buy a smartphone in order to take advantage of any offer I select and I rather think it would take too long, if ever, to recoup that particular expenditure.I've just had same mail, unless your's differs mine has a bit about "Simply use your myWaitrose card in store "The vouchers are shown on the e mail so no need to have smart phone to see or buy them. Not tried but I assume it works like the Sparks card, buy item, scan card and discount appled at tillMy offers FWIW are £1.50 off salmon fillet, and 50p off diced braising steak. Both of which are of more use to me than a free newspaper
The instructions I have are:
1 Start using your myWaitrose card. When you use it regularly, we'll be able to give you personalised offers every week.
[My normal route to work has changed and I rarely go to Waitrose now.]
2 Scan the QR code to sign into your account or visit waitrose.com/my offers.
[I can'd scan but can visit the website.]
3 You'll be taken to your personalised offers page where you can choose two offers each week.
[Fine - the picture is of using a smartphone but I can't see why it couldn't be done via the website.]
4 Shopping in store? Once you've chosen an offer, scan the voucher barcode at the checkout.
[So that pictures using a smartphone/]
There's another instruction for online shopping.
So, if they are actually emailed, you can show the code using a smartphone and accessing the email account. Or am I supposed to print out a screen shot or email?

ETA I was using my laptop. I don't have a smart phone and I don't go into the shops so we'll see!I completed an on line W*rose shop yesterday, as GSF63 said there are vouchers on line, in My Offers,I had six to choose from which was four more than the e mail. Only allowed to use two per week though and they do say they will vary week by week, so I guess no storing them up, plus they have a Use By dateMost were for 50p off an item, but one was £1.50 off, the Salmon fillet, which is already on offer at 25% off so fingers crossed it's an offer on an offer. However it remains to be seen if in stock come delivery day on SundayIf it works I've saved £2 on the shop, or put another way 2/3rds of the delivery cost because I was going to buy those items anyway regardless of offersPS, I use desktop & shop on the web siteEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

But, having selected an offer or two and wanting to use the offer in store, you have to scan the voucher code at the check-out. (It doesn't mention emailing a voucher.) So how does one scan the voucher code unless you have a smartphone on which to display it?0 -

People have noted that Waitrose will lose out on the customers who spend £10 just to get that free paper. Rest assured, they know exactly what the free paper was earning them, thanks to the detailed data the membership cards gets them. The reason they've removed the free paper is that it wasn't profitable. Even though people may have travelled a little further to visit Waitrose rather than their local Sainsbury's, and even though people spent more to get over the minimum amount, they were still losing money by giving out the paper. They know which customers they'll lose, based on knowing your addresses. They still felt they'd be better off losing your business.
As it is now, I now do pretty much all of my main shopping at a cheaper supermarket and afterwards only pop into Waitrose for one or two specific items that the other supermarket doesn't sell.1 -
I used to get £16 off £80 vouchers sent about 3 times a year, but would only use one of them and at the same time get a free newspaper. I struggle to get up to £80 as unwilling to pay inflated prices for normal food, but would buy meat etc for about half of the £80. Not sure I will bother now as even with money off you probably don't save much and a paper was a rare treat (don't buy as don't have leisure to read it normally).

According to My Waitrose Offers, the offers are "shaped by the way you shop", so I wonder why have they only offered me magazines I have never ever ordered?
What a mess it is.1 -

I do not have a smart phone.I printed my 2 chosen coupons from the website (I took a screenshot of each) and used them as I would normal coupons at the checkout - I went through a selfscan till and scanned MyWaitrose card first. Worked fine - £1 off a £2.70 spend.I did not get offer of free newspaper - only some reduced newspaper subscription offer0
