Thanks HSL2, me too. I’m on edge at the moment as it’s raining constantly and the damage is getting worse but the day. :(

The £5 fb sale was collected today but have put this in DS’s money box as the item was his.

I finally chose some frames for the reading glasses I need today - £159 for two pairs - I can’t afford to get old.  :o

Feeling frustrated and fed up today and not really sure why. I think it’s the old ‘stuck in a rut-ness’ kicking in again and not being able to do much to change things at the moment.  I have another counselling session on Tuesday, hopefully that will help.

  • I think  a lot of us are suffering the January blues at the moment.  The weather is not helping either.  Hope the counselling session helps you today.

You are doing so well on the mortgage OPs though.

    Thank you enthusiasticsaver x

Unfortunately the counsellor cancelled last minute today but I wasn't really in the mood for it anyway tbh so it's no bad thing.

I had the house valued this morning and was pleasantly surprised that it's now valued at approximately £60K more than I paid for it 18 months ago. According to the valuer, without renovation it would have been up to around £15K more than the last sale price but with the renovations I've made, it's now around £60K more. I've spent in the region of £25-£30K on it, so it seems to have been worth it financially.

I had my first B12 shot yesterday and am booked up for 5 more over the next two weeks, hopefully it helps. DS has blood tests tomorrow and I'm really expecting them to come back showing he's also anaemic. :(

A load of washing is in the dryer and another in the washing machine. I've changed DS's bed and put his new duvet set he got for Christmas on so hopefully he'll be pleased with that when he gets home. I've just had some leftover pasta for my lunch and have sorted tea for the two of us for tonight.  The ebay parcel is wrapped and ready to be posted later today and the charity bag is STILL in the car to drop off...

Urgh, a difficult evening with DS’s mood and attitude which even he acknowledged was partly down to him being so very tired, but we have both gone to bed on some laughs, a nice chat and a cuddle so I’m glad we turned it around. His attitude has taken a nosedive since being back at school which I expected, but it does sadden me after he was more or less his lovely previous self over the Christmas holidays. I’m trying to deal with things better and I know he is trying too and I told him yesterday that I’d noticed and appreciated him trying. The tiredness is really hindering him at the moment, I’m hoping the blood tests tomorrow will give us some answers and help to get the right treatment for him so he feels better.

My lovely parents have very kindly given me an early birthday present of sending me money to cover the cost of my glasses. They are so kind to me, I don’t deserve them. As I’ve paid for the glasses already I’ve sent £30 of it to the mortgage as an OP. I know my Mum and Dad would be pleased with that use of the money. The mortgage is now at £73,800 exactly and I’ve OP’d £107.70 this month so far which I’m pleased with.

The roof is still not fixed and the roofer has not got back to me. I contacted a couple of others and have had no joy in getting them to come out but the lovely builder/carpenter who has done a lot of work for me before has kindly offered to do it for me as soon as we get a break in the weather. He’s a lovely bloke and a real star, I’m glad to have discovered him. He reminds me of a younger version of my Dad with his skills at doing anything and his good nature and kindness.

I’ve ordered a few things for DS’s birthday today, paying on the CC and immediately paying it off with funds from the ‘gifts’ pot. It’s so nice to have no CC debt and to be able to use a CC wisely - something I’ve not always done. I need to pick up a few more things and start shopping for OH’s birthday shortly too but should have the money to cover it all with what’s left in the gifts pot and the £100 I’ll top it up with on payday. After that, the gift pot savings will be focused towards Christmas again and family birthdays along the way, although I don’t tend to spend as much on those, they would get cross if I did! We’re not a materialistic family at all and we all are grateful for the thought rather than the gift.

    Not a good day.
I was called by the doctor over after concern about my last test results, looks like I may have something else going wrong with my body now. I've been referred for a CT scan.

Also had the email of doom from work, looks like redundancies are on the cards, a meeting is set for Monday morning so now have a weekend of worry about that.

One more item has hopefully sold on FB, £10 made if they turn up.

Thanks you Mrs_Money_Penny, I appreciate your kindness xx

£10 made last night from the FB sale - I'm almost taken by surprise when FB buyers do actually turn up these days.
I've transferred £10 from the grocery pot (in lieu of the cash I now have in my purse) to the car savings to go towards the service I booked for the car yesterday which will cost me £219 and more or les wipe the car pot out. The oil change light has come on and it was last done 2 years ago so I can't really avoid it.

The roofer came back to me and quoted an extortionate price so I'm sticking with the builder who I know won't charge me anything near that even though it may take a bit longer to get him here.

Another B12 injection today. Hopefully they'll start making a difference soon.

  • Sorry to read about your health concerns, hopefully it's precautionary for you. Fingers crossed also for your job safety -you deserve some good news.

    Thank you Moneyfordreams xx

I’ve had the 4th of 6 B12 shots so far and am not feeling any better, am hoping they kick in soon. I’ve largely managed to put worries about the required CT scan and worrying symptoms to one side at the moment, probably because I’ve been so worried about losing my job.

The meeting today was as expected, 3 members of staff have to go from 9 of us now. Miraculously, the two lazy managers who don’t actually do anything and call the shots are excluded from this - there’s a surprise. One of those job losses is within my team of 4, so one of us has to go. It is getting unworkable there now, it will literally be down to skeleton staff - and the two useless managers. So, we now have to wait for a few months to see which one of us will go. It’s a horrible place to be. If I survive this round then it’s likely we will all be out of a job once a major contract is up in 4 years time, so I need to make a 4 year savings or paying off the mortgage plan somehow if I get to keep my job. Think I might need a new diary and a new focus.

I sold another item for £10 on vinted at the weekend which I need to package tomorrow. The ziffit sale has also finally been approved too so just over £15 will be in my account from that soon.
The builder is coming tomorrow to look at my roof so I need to get some money out to pay him, not sure how much that will be yet though but hopefully nowhere near the extortionate amount the roofer wanted.

I’ve also spent a bit around £90 more on materials to get my little business up and running and am pleased to have made some good progress on making some items to set up the shop and list for sale soon. I’m trying to build up a good few items before launching but it is a creative business and I am making the items by hand so it takes time and the energy to be creative which I’m struggling a bit with at the moment but am persevering. I also need to photograph and upload everything too and make it all look polished. It’s a case of swallowing a few frogs and getting over those hurdles then I’ll feel better.

What a shock.  That seems to be normal practice.  They probably have people thinking some of the work your team do has been done by them, that's what one of my bosses used to do.  He got caught though, that'll teach him to go on holiday.
