Hi I also had a similar experience with this estate agent. When registered to do viewings the EA made a huge deal of me speaking to thier in-house mortgage broker and if I did so, I would be on thier "preferred buyers list" and any offers would then be "taken seriously". What a scam1

What a scamI would very much advise any one i know who wants to sell to avoid this agency. Im sure the staff just want to get on but the coporate culture is repulsive. We have had much better experiences with local agents.0

my last house was via Connell's, they didn't hard sell, but once they told me the price for their building survey which was over 1k and double what I paid, I wasn't interested in their services anymore."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

This makes me want to not bother with estate agents.
I wonder if there's an opportunity (not in this specific case) to get an email from the vendors and state you'll be offering X - that way they know if the estate agents are dragging their heels.0 -

The time your transaction is no guarantee that all transactions should take that amount of time.

UPDATE - Please read my original post and then this.
So after 2 and a bit months of our solicitor receiving nothing, not even a draft contract pack, from the Sellers Conveyancers (Premier Property Lawyers, recommended to them by Connells remember) we received an email form Connells Branch Manager last night. Very impersonal and no hint of an apology for time wasted, informing us that the Sellers had changed Solicitors to a local firm and if we all pulled together now we could get this over the line in a decent timescale (implying that we had something to do with the 2 months wasted time?!!)
So in addition to useless and lazy i can now add arrogant beyond belief.
On a plus side i am now 100% more confident that we are dealing with a local solicitor now as long as Connells don't stick their oar in again and fruck it up.0 -

Why would they apologise to you as their contract is with the sellers and the delay was from the sellers conveyancers albeit on recommendation.2 -

However once you have can infer the seller is happy with, I'd use the estate agent as much as you can to take some of the burden of complexity off of the sellers.Once a sale is agreed and the estate agent has maximised their revenue opportunities from the sale, it becomes in their interest to get the deal done.Often the non-sales staff are worth more on a sale than the front line 'salesmen'But surely whether they receive their fee in 6 weeks or 6 months is not really that important to them0

Don't forget, there will be many estate agents lurking here in these forums also defending EA actions. Some are defending hard, some are politely advising, "stay away from house deal then". Its indirectly saying "don't question EA and let them do whatever they are doing. You just stay away". Its seller market after all, EA will get new buyers with time. But some already suffered buyers/sellers are also giving good advice on how to tackle it, rather than just run away.
