Olio app this morning - 2 tesco finest melons, strawberries, apples, watercress.
Unusual to get hold of that much fruit, and some is for my mum, but I am pleased with that.
On a more negative note, the local charity that sells household furniture very cheaply to those that need it is closing down due to rising costs.
And a local village hall that runs a lot of cheap community groups may have to close because the council has gone from a peppercorn rent to full commercial rates. I can see that the council does need to recoup more money for the building but you'd think there'd be a compromise somewhere in the middle. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.8 -
I used to work in a local authority childrens home and corned beef hah was a menu regular. We had two cooks and they used completely different recipes. One was more liquid with veg in it and the other made it with the corned beef mashed into mashed potato. Both were tasty so I never minded which we had. I have never made it as my husband doesnt like corned beef.

Now, that sounds delicious! Thanks for the idea for today's lunch, I guess we have a winner!
I will be definitely getting some next time I go to the supermarket!💙💛 💔3 -
well not a good a day today. Car had issues so took it in to a local garage yesterday. Call back this morning £2200 quote on a 12 year old car close to 190k on the clock. And second hand car prices are silly. And we don't want lease or PCP as we don't have the money needed per month. We are screwed. Don't know what my partner is going to do for work as he works shifts. Oh well we will muddle through some how. Only fans here I comeHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

It is a hard decision whether to pay the £2200 for a repair or try and find a decent second hand one for that much.
I wish you luck.
I like to use cars until they drop then buy a decent ish one. Reminds me to put more in the car replacement fund.4 -
If it's a car you're happy will last a long time it may be worth doing.
If you're not sure, then it's probably worth trying to find another car.
The Bangernomics thread will probably be a worthwhile read. Subject to not living in a ULEZ area and as long as he is happy to do the work himself and source parts, an old Focus will probably be the best bet. Rovers are also popular over there.💙💛 💔2 -
Corned beef hash here is onions softened jn a pan and then cubed cooked potatoes added in and then cubed corned beef - lots of black pepper and a couple of eggs scrambled through the mixture 😋😋 Served with baked beans and sometimes a fried egg on top - yum!
