@Tanya12345, please could you tell me more about the course you did, i.e. whereabouts & what technique? That's the kind of thing that fascinates me, and if it's not too far away, I think I'd like to have a go too!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5

I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dreamland-Relaxwell-Intelliheat-Electric-Temperature/dp/B08NCVW7QS/ref=sr_1_5?crid=28WZVSPNFH7P9&keywords=Dreamland+Electric+Heated+Throw&qid=1649582688&sprefix=dreamland+electric+heated+throw,aps,93&sr=8-5&th=1 in early February, it cost £53.00. Now I see that the pink isn't available and the others are in the region of £90.00. 😲

Spendless, ah the days of Monday morning wash day
.I had a Hoover washing machine, and a seperate spind dryer and they were great. I spent Monday morning doing the washing (my Hoover WM you could put on to boil as well) The spin dryer sometimes used to waltz across the kitchen so I would stick my youngest little DD on top to hold it in one place
After getting all spun I would line dry it or of the weather was bad I had aan extending four string line that went across my kitchen . I did have a large swuare kitchen/diner back then. I would bake some rock cakes for the kids coming in from school and afterwards leave the oven door open so the heat would help dry the clothes on the line. I could shut the kitchen door off from the rest of the house and if the heating was on the clothes would be dry by teatime. If I was doing the bedding the sheets etc would go onto the extended washing line over night and be dry by the morning Morning after noons were normally spent polishing the sitting room and dining room furniture and cleaing the windows I had frech doors and two large windows back then in there My youngest DD says that the smell of laundry, cakes and windolene take her back to being a little girl coming home from school on a Monday. She's almost 53 now and yet smells remind her of growing up
if she comes into my house and I've been cleaning the windows ,first thing she says is "its not Monday today is it "
DD texted me earlier to see if I could bring her in some tomatoes. So on the way back from dropping mygrandson to his part-time job I nipped into the big Asda's and was told there are supply problems with tomatoes at the moment .looking around their shelves it seems its not the only thing they are in short supply of either, lots of empty shelves already. The chap in there saidt they haven't had any tomatoes for several days. I then went to my local Tesco and they too were out of tomatoes and some of their shelves are looking decidedly sparse at the moment5 -
I have never even heard of a spinner. Thanks for the info.
My heated throw arrived today. I just ordered it from Amazon as I have Prime. We use Prime so much that it is worth the cost to us. Typically, it is a very nice, sunny day here and I was just sitting out in the garden but I will try it out later tonight when the sun goes in.:)

Wednesday - with Prime don't forget you get certain box sets/shows/films with that in the form of Prime video.
OH has been a Prime member for years (on the autistic spectrum and waiting is not an easy thing for things he really wants, though he is better now than in the past) and I still kick myself about how long it took us to realise that a TV aspect was included. Especially useful for us as we don't have a TV licence (don't use the live parts of the video service if you don't and all is good).
You also get books via prime on kindle (you can use the app for tablet or phone use, can even have kindle on the computer).
Yes our payments for TV subscription services cost more than a licence but I honestly believe it is better value as there never seemed to be much on freeview that interested us (and Prime is paying for more than 1 service so there is that).
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy8 -
I used to have a twin tub that lasted me for years but when it broke and was too uneconomical to have mended I got an automatic. I'm on my third one now (this is over a 38 year period) but I still have a spin dryer that I use sometimes when I'm hand washing bit and pieces. It definitely gets out more water than the WM does.
Since SMs have been sending electronic receipts for home deliveries, I've been keeping them on a memory stick. On Friday I did an exercise comparing today's cost of 30 staple food items that I buy regularly from the same SM with how much they cost last Aug/Sep and was really surprised at the findings.
Of those, 5 have gone down in price - bread flour, cod and basa fillets, a bag of assorted peppers and 12 medium size eggs - £1.13 less. 14 have stayed the same and 12 have gone up (£1.99 more). I didn't include F&V or meat as they seem to vary according to what's available at the time of year and, as we like most of these things, I buy whatever is the best value for money at the time.
Of the ones that have gone up, I've so far identified 3 that I can swap out for a cheaper version without losing quality or quantity. These are chicken drumsticks instead of thighs (use for curry or stir fry), a sliced loaf (use only for toast) and 12 medium eggs instead of 12 large eggs. Another one that has gone up is 4 pts of milk - I got one the day before for £1.15 and overnight it had gone up to £1.25. I don't begrudge that but I'm afraid the cynic in me wonders just who is getting that extra 10p? I think I shall be combing through my shopping lists more thoroughly in future.Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
