and find that heat really does help with my useless joints I just can't be cold, or I seize up like a creaky old gate, so anyone with joint pain I would heartily recommend to get one. My DD bought me mine for this reason initially, but what a great investment it has been especially now with the cost of heating rocketing

Although SMs don't provide disposable produce bags in store any more, I still get some in my SM deliveries (for things like meat, fish etc). I flatten these out and keep them on a roll in a kitchen drawer as they're just the right size to use as pedal bin liners. Occasionally there's also a carrier bag or two containing frozen goods and these get saved too for bigger bins. Every little helps as they say.Be kind to others and to yourself too.8

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely buy a heated blanket/throw for both of us.:) I might look today actually to have it ready for when the weather gets cold. Saying that, there was a thunderstorm with hailstones here in London a couple of days ago! Back to bright and sunny today, though.
I am wondering how cold my new house will be as we are moving in 3 weeks and it is a much older house than we are in now and also close to the sea. I will have to make sure I get all the tips for keeping warm on here.

Jellytotts said:@sammy_kaye18. A bag of postcrete will sort your washing line out. It's pre-mixed and you just add water. Just make sure your hole is around about the size of a bucket in order to get enough weight to the base to stop it tipping again. If you buy a "pole sleeve" for your washing line you can set that in the postcrete and your washing line can just slot in when you need it and then get put away over winter/when using the garden.
I am dreading or loathing putting on the tumble dryer this year. So much so that I am considering selling it altogether.
i have had an eventful morning. My sister was coming up to deliver the greenhouse she collected for me.
In the process of preparing the garden for my little nieces and sister coming (ie dog poop duty) I managed to stand on a nail that was cunningly disguised as grass and it went straight through my shoe and into my foot. So after hobbling back to the house and carefully removing my shoe I left a nice trail of blood round the house and had to wake my son to help me.
Sister then took me down A&E after a phone call to the doctor confirmed I hadn't had a tetanus shot since 1984. So now Im home after 2 hours there with an iodine stained foot, a tetanus shot in the arm and a week of antibiotics. Fantastic.
Along with others I am thinking that this year I will give practical gifts to people
Which reminds me
ANYONE WITH A POUNDSTRETCHER NEAR THEM. AT THE MINUTE IF YOU SPEND £5 THEN THEY ARE GIVING YOU 50% OFF THE TOTAL OF YOUR SHOP
Or so my sister lovingly informed me whilst I was being prodded by nurses!Time to find me again11 -
ANYONE WITH A POUNDSTRETCHER NEAR THEM. AT THE MINUTE IF YOU SPEND £5 THEN THEY ARE GIVING YOU 50% OFF THE TOTAL OF YOUR SHOP
However, most of the prices seem to have been doubled before being halved
Example, bleach at Semichem £1, bleach at £Stretcher £1.99
Tomorite used to be £3, sometimes £2 now £6
I struggled to spend a £5 (£2.50)
My sister has stocked up on bird food which she reckons is a saving8 -
I was in Poundstretcher today and they had a pack of six halogen (?) light bulbs reduced to £1. They are the right size for my kitchen lights and after the 50% reduction worked out at less than 10p a bulb. I did notice most prices were extremely inflated though.6

JackieO, apologies if this has already been asked but what make is your heated throw? I am looking at buying one as a gift for FIL, 94 feeling the cold. I have been looking at a Brook stone one but it has very mixed reviews.

I'd love a heated throw but cats claws and electricity don't mix so I'll pass on that for now.
@sammy_kaye18 ouch! Hope your foot heels quickly. Well done for getting it seen to though before infection set in.I treated myself to a hot deep bath last night. Oh it was bliss. I love a daily shower (now cut down to every other day with a sink wash in between and used to love a long deep hot bath every few days too. But after nearly an entire day of gardening yesterday I felt I needed and deserved a long soak. I slept so well after it. Amazing how something so "everyday" becomes a proper treat when it's a rarity.
Saw lots of local friends on FB are struggling to get diesel round here, one had to abandon her car as she'd run out after trying all the local petrol stations, luckily someone said they can give her lifts to work today but how worrying.9
