More than likely, given fuel prices. As I said, I don't begrudge it as I think milk is a relatively cheap commodity. I know butter has also gone up - mine was £2.95 for 500g three weeks ago, it went up 15p and then another 10p last week, so 25p in 3 weeks. When you think about how many products are made from milk, it starts to get a bit scary!

DD texted me earlier to see if I could bring her in some tomatoes. So on the way back from dropping mygrandson to his part-time job I nipped into the big Asda's and was told there are supply problems with tomatoes at the moment .looking around their shelves it seems its not the only thing they are in short supply of either, lots of empty shelves already. The chap in there saidt they haven't had any tomatoes for several days. I then went to my local Tesco and they too were out of tomatoes and some of their shelves are looking decidedly sparse at the moment5 -
Think the microwave has just had it - sigh! Was just trying to melt some dark chocolate in there in order to dip strawberries in. Doing this for my DD's packed lunch, she's veggie (and fussy!) just started a new job that she commutes to and currently has no idea of finish times, so was looking round the house for what I've got in to pad out her meal. The microwave started making funny noise, thought the container must have metallic, so changed it twice, same thing happened! Now heating on the hob instead!6

Just been watching an item on BBC Breakfast on the price of milk potentially going up 50%. The cows in the shed, looked depressed, they had easy access to food that looked like wet sand, they weren't interested and they looked depressed
.Not only do I not begrudge it I hope it all goes to the farmers. From a cruelty POV its the one thing I can't seem to wean (no pun!) myself off. Someone needs to invite a non dairy milk that tastes like milk and I'm in.

No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Private pension pay slips arrived, same amount as the previous year, I rung the company up to check it was right as there had been a pay increase, they said it was right and that my tax code had changed. So I rang the tax dept to query it, its changed because my state pension had increased!!! Yup Im starting to feel the pinch!!9

I've not got my private pension payslip yet but not expecting to get much, if any, increase because the personal allowance hasn't been changed so definitely means more tax will have to be paid.

Regarding tax codes and pension increases. I have today received a letter from my company pension provider stating that HMRC have issued some incorrect tax codes in March so provider has agreed not to implement these until revised notices have been issued. With the rise in both state and company pensions this is likely to mean that if affected I won't be paying enough tax until rectified. Not a major problem in itself but messes up my budget planning for a while until I can be sure of my monthly income. Might be worth keeping an eye on this in case it affects you.4

Cashew milk isn't bad. I've accidentally put that in my tea a few times and it's still palatable. Unfortunately it's gone up to an eye-watering £1.90per litre! (Where's the hair-raising emoji when you need it?!) It was never cheap, but really??On a programme called something like Eat Well for the Planet (same people as Eat Well for Less anyway), they did a blind swap of non-dairy 'milks' and the pea one came out best. Even the fussy, they're-all-awful-especially-the-ones-I haven't-tried-milk-only-on-my-cereal child liked it. The price of that made my eyes water when I looked for it in Sainsburys. One thing I find helps when I'm thinking of exchanging something is to ignore what it's supposed to be like and just take it on its own merits. Although that didn't work with vegan 'butter'. I found it disgusting with no expectations at all!A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
