MattMattMattUK said:My guess, and I could be totally wrong, is that someone at a previous address has committed benefit fraud in your name. All the further correspondence will have been sent to that previous address, this letter will have your work address due to payroll records linked to your National Insurance number.
You need to speak to the DWP tomorrow and establish what has actually happened. This may well take a bit of time to resolve, but will totally resolvable
I'll definitely call them tomorrow. As I don't want to pay for benefits which haven't received.0 -
Good luck and let us know how you get on.1

Thanks, will keep posted.0 -
Dealing with the DWP (esp when you haven't got a current claim) can be very difficult, you may wish to seek help from your MP in getting an sensible response from the DWP.
Also you may wish to try:
UC Risk Review Team - 0800 169 0347 (If that number is still in place).
There was a unit set up to specifically deal with UC identity fraud
Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.1 -

Good luck. It would be useful if you could come back and update the thread to help others that may find themselves in a similar predicament.I guess it's not child maintenance related?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

The scary thing is that the dwp can take up to 40% of your wage without laying any proof before a court that you actually owe it.1

JIL said:It's a copy of the dea that has been sent to your employer. This should not be the first you have heard about it as you should have received a notification of the overpayment and if there was nothing further heard from yourself then a letter before action. If still no response then an attachment of earnings is processed.
You need to act quickly if you dont believe it's your debt. It wont be a previous tenant.
Debts are sent to debt management to recover via customer reference numbers.
The number you need to call will be on that letter.Debt Management team
Telephone: 0800 916 0647 (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
That's my first letter ever received from this guys.
Never had benefits, tax credits or universal credit.
I'll call them today, I'm definitely not paying anything to them. Because I haven't received anything.
They will have to proof that I have received money.0 -
