  • I got several Amazon vouchers for the refer a friend offer, I also got £130 for a sole to sole switch in November but the sole to joint switch has not received a bonus.  I have spare accounts and DDs so will have another try with a sole to sole switch

Thank you for the responses. Based on success from others I will try to switch having had the amazon refer vouchers a few years ago.

Also reading the terms, it looks like I can switch an account that doesn't have any DDs then just start 2 DDs like a month or so in because they don't assess the account until 60 days after we've told them about the switch. Hope that's right.. !
  • Argh I switched to this account at the end of last week, though it hasn't completed yet.

Will I be eligible for the sign up bonus, do you think?

If the switch has actually started (i.e. it will complete in less than 7 working days from now) I doubt it.  It has to have started on or after today:

You need to have instructed us to start a full switch from a personal current account not held with us, cahoot or Cater Allen (‘Old Account’) to a new or existing 1I2I3, 1I2I3 Lite, Everyday, Select, or Private Current Account held with Santander UK plc using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) on or after 24 January 2022

The terms state that you need to have two active direct debits within 60 days.
If there are no direct debits switched over from the old account then I'm assuming these can be setup after the switch is complete.

I doubt your first switch will be eligible, but if you happen to have another account to switch you can start a second switch and that one should count, as you won't have met the terms to disqualify you from the first switch.

For the previous offer I switched over 2x DDs, but I believe others had success in simply setting these up after the switch completed. I agree that the terms are ambiguous on this so hopefully someone should be able to confirm one way or another based on their past experience.

When I did the switch (with the same terms) last year, I didn't switch any over with the account being closed I just updated two DDs to the Santander account once it was open and I had the account details.

'Within 60 days have at least 2 DDs in place..' clearly means DDs are not mandatory on the sacrificial account (although they would also qualify) and they can be set up post switch.

Also note the t&c's other comments regarding DDs.
