How early did you buy your dress?

I ordered my dress yesterday for my August 2008 wedding.

Having spent hours looking I finally settled on something that was nothing like my original idea - lol.

I've joined the eBay wedding challenge to raise the money to pay for it.

Just a little miffed now that my bridesmaids dresses are going to cost more than mine so have splashed out on a gorgeous pair of shoes (they were in the sale though)

Congratulations nix143 and paddingtondoo on your upcoming weddings.

About a dress with sleeves, could you buy one you really like without and get someone to adapt it? Or just get someone to make it from scratch exactly how you want?

My sister did this, as did my bro-in-laws sister for her civil wedding. I don't think the dresses worked out anymore expensive than buying from a shop and you could design two outfits that are really complementary.

Trying to pay for it all with surveys/clickies etc will probably be a tall order. But you've got a while so good luck!

I know! However I have a massive stack of stuff to Ebay which should bring in quite a bit of cash - I'm finally going to sell all those things I've been holding onto for far too long, bye bye Tag Huere (sp?), the Quidco thing can be surprisingly worthwhile doing and I am then working like mad to ensure that what I do spend is the best value I can find. So it all depends on how much of a budget I set and then I'm going to break it down into a weekly target and see how I go from there.

It doesn't help that I've fallen in love with a venue that has just added an extra 300 quid to the target already

Have found something on the debt free wannabee that might be useful to you.
There is a thread about earning £2 a day from clicks which might just help with your newly increased target!

Ohhhhh cheers! :T And that means I only have to click for 5 months to get the ceremony venue I want LOL - think I need to rope t'other half into this as well

Its her day as well so in an ideal world effort should be 50/50

I bought mine at the end of Decemeber for my May 09 wedding. I love it - it was a reduced in the sale ball gown and was £40. I figured even if I never fit into it, or I end up findging something more perfect - for a mere £40 I had to take the risk!

I ordered my dress last April 2007 and it was delivered to the shop in September 2007, now safely in my mums loft until June this year when I get married

The trouble with searching for dresses online is that they look very different in real life on normal size brides!

Best way is to go try some on, most bridal shops I've been in have been great, really nice helpful women trying to find you the perfect dress. I've tried on a lot of dresses and still haven't ordered anything but I'm sure I'll find one somewhere! I've got until the end of the month when I have to order something...eek!

The online designers all seem to show strapless dresses but theres plenty out there that aren't.

Hi All,

Just to let you know there is a 2 week holiday in China from about the 1st February so they can celebrate Chinese New Year so anyone wanting a dress will have to wait a bit longer.

I should have mine by the middle of March:j
