  • Hello please can I join for February? I have been reading this forum for a while but think I need to join in to keep me accountable! There are 2 adults, one child and our dog and my budget is £300. I am hoping to get this down to £200 in the summer when we start getting produce from our Allotment! This will cover food, household, dog food and takeaways for the month. My month will run from 27th - 26th as this is my partners payday.

    Budget £300 please :)

First spends today. Spent a lot :astonished: but had a few expensive things to buy and hoping it lasts us into next week.

£26.31 in aldi on 6 litres of fizzy drink, 2.75 litres of bleach, 1 litre of juice, 6 pints of milk, deodorant, toothpaste, frozen ready meal, beef short rib, 2 pizzas, 4 Bananas, 1.5kg potatoes, pancetta, pancakes, yoghurt, loaf of bread (YS), 2 pasta cup shots, pack of kitkat style bars, 6 bags of crisps and a pie.

Then another £22.48 in asda on 8 litres of fizzy drink, vegetarian bacon, 4x vegetarian pies/lattices, 2 vegetarian escalopes, potato gratin, sliced smoked cheese, grapes, maple syrup, toothpaste, 12 eggs (YS) and a hot cross bun loaf of bread (YS).

Didn't need all the vegetarian stuff but it was 4 for £6, so we stocked up.

    Meal plan:
    1. Veggie sausage casserole with mash
    2. Pasta with meatballs for OH, probably just plain tomato and cheese for me
    3. Red Thai curry with noodles
    4. Pie and mash
    5. Pea and ham risotto
    6. Veggie sausages for me, beef for OH, with potato gratin
    7. Pizza

    We're already on £48.79/£200 :confounded:
I was just wondering if you had a treats and entertainment budget - I have put in bold the things I would move to that (since the pandemic ours includes spends for home treats as well as going out)
We don't. I do have a separate takeaway budget. The snack things go in our lunch boxes, so I don't mind including them. I should really give up the fizzy drinks, but it's my one vice!

Day 3 of no spends in a row today although the plan was to cook a lot tonight on account of the kitchen being ripped out tomorrow ready for new install starting Monday for the next few weeks so will probably pop to the shops later. I’m so determined not to bust the budget or eat a loaf of rubbish food whilst the kitchen is in progress so need to be smart! Any good ideas welcome :)
