And we're off with the first spend of the month. £20 just sent to our veg and fruit box folks and they'll deliver it tomorrow morning. It's such a good value and usually lasts us about 10 days or so. I'm also finalizing a bulk meat order from a local farm for lots of lamb, sausages, bacon, etc. That will likely be about £75 out of the £100 bulk fund this month but I'll wait to see the invoice when they send it later today. I still want to stock up on some Italian items in Edinburgh later this month. I may reserve some weekly funds and move it over to bulk at some point.
This afternoon I'm going to Boots to collect some prescriptions and will stop at H & B for some sunflower seeds, then M & S or Iceland for some basics like cheese, cream cheese, oatcakes, sausages, yoghurt, and fruit. Question about Iceland, do any of you like their sausages? I'm looking for some high meat content ones vs. Richmond, etc. Any opinions?
WEEK 1 Spend: £20 / £70.00 with £50.00 remaining
BULK Spend: ≈ £75 / £100 with £25.00 remaining

So I think I spent nearly £600 in jan. This is all food for 5 people toiletries cleaning alcohol and pet food for dog and cat. Cat meat I bought in bulk in December so won’t need any till at least March though.I’m trying to cut down but as we can all be a little fussy and I don’t like cooking it can be hard7

Hi elsiepac
could you put me down for £100 for February please after a disastrous January !7 -
I did my big shop this morning. I picked up a reduced beef topside joint, a reduced belly pork joint, some sausages, reduced pack of six humungous chicken breasts (all separately bagged and frozen as big enough for one between two) a pork loin joint (cut four chops off and froze these in bags of two, and the rest as a small roasting joint plus two packs of mince that is in bags of between 150g and 200g portions, also in the freezer. I also replenished red lentils, (£1.20 a bag) - one in the jar, one for the stores, as I will pad out mince meals with these and finely chopped celery.
Most of the shop was vegetables but there was bowl fruit too and we will continue to work our way through garden produce that we continue to harvest and retrieve from the freezer. I noticed the first rhubarb shoots in the garden but had the pup on a lead so must pop back out and cover with the forcing pot after the cup of tea DH just made me.
I'm hoping this will do most of the month, with a small top up and market visit towards the end of Feb. A total of £130.32 this splits down as £28 on treats and entertainment (any alcohol, chocolate, ice-cream as well as real going out) and this is outside GC, but with £1.55 pets (cat litter), £18.88 stores (included dishwasher tablets) and £81.89 for all the meat, dairy, fruit and veg, I am hoping this will do most of the month (milk is delivered).
It was a one-stop shop today. I will go to the market for fish, bread, fruit and veg, and the butcher for meat, eggs, deli and French style bread and pastries, if I need those things in my top up shop, but with a list to stop me over spending. That trip will include a cafe brunch with a good coffee (the latter is treats and entertainment) and will include DH and maybe pupSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

First February spend for us today too! £89.35 at L!dls, on butter, halloumi & non-perishables for the month, though they were very short on the laundry front so the Offspring may have to buy their own - I'm still happily doing the household stuff with my Eco-washball & a dash of vinegar.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

Hi. Can I start the February Challenge too. I’ve read all the posts to date and everyone is doing amazing. I am doing contract work, so won’t have wage every month so want to limit my spending for a set amount every month. I am giving myself a £60 grocery budget with top ups for treats from surveys/ coupons/ cashback etc..love YS shopping, and bought my 1st TGTG this week. Great deals..6

1. Pie and chips with peas
2. Beef ribs for OH, veggie sausages for me, with potato gratin
3. Pea and ham risotto
4. Vegetarian escalopes with mash and broccoli
5. Sausage casserole, probably with mash
We're then away Friday and Saturday evening.

£4.98 spent today on a few bits as I forgot to get things out of the freezer and we have no hob. We could have had something like beans on toast but that’s not the most nutritious so instead I managed to pick up
5 ready cooked YS chicken thigh fillets (some how hub ate all of this!)
2 ready cooked YS chicken breasts (1 for my little and the bottomless pit that is my Hub also ate the other!)
2 bottles of water (no taps either yet)
1 pack of tofu (split into 2 portions)
1 red pepper
1 courgette
There we’re some jacket potatoes cooked already to go with the above so roasted the veg and tofu and everyone got a nice dinner for less than a fiver. There is also half the tofu left and half the roasted veg so that will cover my lunch. Not bad!
