Good to see that it's improved lately - I used it a bit when it first launched and was really disappointed to see local takeaways who listed every single night, with food that only seemed slightly different to their normal price (so it really seemed like it wasn't actually food waste, just a new selling place for them). I'm an Olio collector and it's a bit hit and miss. Some days are amazing and some days you wonder why you did it. I would say that the vast majority of stuff is listed between 8.45 and 9.15 in the evening (the scheduled collection time is 8.30pm) so if you find that there's not much in your area it might be worth looking at the busier time.2

I got a Morrisons box last week - I have enough bread rolls in the freezer for three weeks now, loads of carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, with some fruit and salad. For £3, it worked out nicely for me. Soup and rolls for lunch for ages...Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I did order a magic bag from a deli/newsagents that supplies local stuff such as curries made in a factory a mile from here, yoghurts from a dairy other side of the county etc. I got three loaves of bread - sourdough stick, small white sandwich and an artisan wholemeal. Plus two cheeses with fruit in (yuk! mum and dad got them) two cheese straws 30cm long and two yoghurts. Wish had less bread.1

So I picked my Magic bag up, they were very friendly, I showed someone it on my phone and he said just wait here, he went out the back of the shop and came out with a bag for life, I said thank you and then he said oh hang on a sec, I thought he needed to do something through the till but he went to the bread section and put a loaf on top of my goodies.! Very kind.
