You know what they say about best laid plans...savingholmes said:Sounds a brilliant organisation - and a good plan.
It is, that is probably the flaw in the plan but it's not for too long.apple_muncher said:That's a very late lunch! Says apple, whose stomach always takes precedence...😂It is a solid, simple plan. Go for it!
I've just coloured my calendar lilac where I'm not working. I daresay I've done it wrong. I bet you do withering sarcasm pretty well, @gr@greenbeegreenbee said:Good luck with your new work routine - you'll probably need the odd break before the school run, but most employers are flexible around things like that. Most people I work with have things like school pick-up/drop-off blocked in their diaries - sometimes they have to reorganise things for big meeting that can't be worked out round them, but it means people are aware. It also helps that members of the leadership team have these blocked in open calendars, so everyone else knows it's normal and expected.
Obviously it doesn't stop the usual idiots booking over pre-existing meetings, out of office time without bothering to check... I have a pre-written passive-aggresive email with screenshots on how to check availability

DD2 had other ideas. Woke me at 3 and again at 6...
I'll try again tomorrow. I did washing and dishwashing but no dog walk or thirty minutes on a room. I did support with the big piggie muck out. I have to catch the (not so) babies.4 -
Hope dd2 slept better, and as a consequence you did too. Are you on hols now?

Hi Apple. Well, no because I started my new job on Monday.
My new routine plan turns out to have been a bit ambitious because of various child related tasks that I'd forgotten but I've had a good week.
We are still waiting on a visa.
Have a great weekend all!7 -
Glad your first week went well. Hopefully the child related tasks will ease over time. Is there anyone who can help you in the meantime?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks! I think the first week went well. Everyone was lovely.
I'm constantly second guessing myself because my confidence has taken such a battering.7 -
It's natural with everything you've had going on. What I would say is not many people would cope as well as you seem to. Incredibly few would have a DH with cancer and recovering from an operation and even consider reaching out to others in need like you have with the refugees which is a very long term commitment. You are a very lovely person.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Totally agree! I'm so sorry your confidence is battered, Alchemilla, but you're doing brilliantly. Please, please, don't take any notice of criticism about how you're coping or anything of that sort - keeping things going is enough of itself, and you're taking on much more, with the job and trying to help refugees (I hear such terrible things about the scheme, it sounds so stressful).savingholmes said:What I would say is not many people would cope as well as you seem to. Thank you both, that is so kind.
No one is criticising me now, it is a hangover from old job. In fact I didn't even get that much of it then, but the non verbal messages I got have battered me.
Today I got DS covid-jabbed, scrubbed the DISGRACEFUL bathroom and did some washing. I've sold three bales of hay and a dog crate cover and made curry. DD2 has a friend over (tidied her room without the usual drama, a breakthrough!) and after lunch I need to do some work on our guest space. I am hoping to find the keys to the tow hitch lock of the trailer when I tidy up...4 -
Well done on the sales, cleaning and the curry! Glad having a friend over helped with DD always improve mine too!!
Good luck with finding the keysAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5
