I have used a couple of places for TGTG and I know what you mean but when I get one from Morries I always go for the start time (5pm) and express a preference for F&V if there are several bags and ours certainly tends to give me all F&V - things like opened packs of grapes or strawberries, where the cellophane seal has failed, plus loads of cheap fresh onions, carrots, potatoes and cabbage and the occasional tender stem broccoli pack, cut and even planted herbs and bags of citrus fruits. I pad out my regular shop with wonky veg and seasonal stuff. I no longer order from M&S or Coop because of all the baked goods.

For nuts and seeds I bulk order, once a year (hence my store-cupboard separate budget) - I use Buy WholeFoods Online or Real Food Source, both direct, and they are very competitively priced, independent small UK based businesses
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Thanks SL. There is a Morries in the town local to us and I could get there at least once per week - I’d have to drive 10 minutes past home into town and then back again, but if I do get F&V I think it would be worth it. I shall see if they do TGTG.

I need to do a survey of all my seed and nut type consumption and then go and have have a look at those sites. The wet BH Monday looks like a good day for that 😊 I will start my Monday tasks list!

Love the 'tip into the next' bays and your view. They are spot on

Thanks @Cheery_Daff, @redofromstart, I knew people here would ‘get it’ as to why I am soooo happy about this! ❤️

The view is across the field behind the chapel next to us, over another neighbour (in a bit of a dip from this angle) and over to Forestry ground. We’ve had a lot of buzzards floating about on thermals overhead today 😊

I’ve had quite a few ‘pinch me’ moments of absolute gratitude today 😊🤩

A glorious view and I too, appreciate those bins. Ours are pallet versions. Slightly less straightforward to rotate. I am going to suggest we distribute some in the flower beds as I don't think we used any last year.

I use all my HM  compost of the veggie patch - partly because it needs it, but also because I can be more brutal about weeding in the veggie patch and it is also more accessible for weeding. If I were to spread anything other than sterile bought in composts (typically a thin layer of manure and a thicker layer of bark) on the flower borders I would be drowning in weeds. I know this is expensive, but this garden has not been gardened for a long time and needs a lot of tlc. It will get easier as the years go by and now I have better compost bins!

Bought myself a new rosemary bush after the last one succumbed to a culinary sage! Also bought three salvias which I am hoping I might be able to get cuttings from in a few weeks, and two bags of Sylv@grow as my stock is depleted from potting up dahlias and summer bulbs.

Mr KK is making room in the mower garage for a wall bracket for my other significant Christmas present which was a battery powered hover mower. I will be using this for the first time shortly! Very excited ….. 🤩

I tip spent tomato compost on my compost heap, so do the reverse, but I also don't compost weeds - they go to the bonfire at the farm or the Council Green waste where the hot temperature kills the weed seeds. Mine is veg waste, grass cuttings and prunings mostly, with spent pot contents, and a 75l bag of compost on every raised bed.

Maybe you should check out whether there is a place near you with spent mushroom compost - the one near us lets you take a trailer-load for free
