Well, from my perspective the MiL lunch went well. I managed to juggle all the timings for the food (not easy for a full roast with a veggie and a meat option and appropriate gravy / sauce). MiL liked her presents, especially the tulips I got her 😊 She seemed to be in a reasonable mood in spite of struggling with sciatica and left relatively early as we were all tired. As soon as they were safely out of the house, I piled on layers and got out for a short walk - refreshing and very needed after so much cooking!I rang my parents and did actually manage to speak to both of them (never a certainty on Christmas Day - they are often too busy). My dad hadn’t realised that the photos in the calendar were his 😂 and my mother’s present and the really special 3D card (that were shipped in the same parcel) have disappeared … <sigh> 🙄 I thanked my mother for the £50 garden voucher 😊 and told her not to apologise for not being on the ball and resorting to a voucher - tbh, after the year she deliberately bought me an utterly tasteless and staggeringly ugly tote bag as it would offend my previous boss to see it in his office (can anyone else follow this logic ….?? 🤔), a voucher is a true delight! 😂I had just started continuing with the kitchen clean up (emptying the finished dishwasher etc) when Mr KK got home. He was not in a good mood … apparently MiL had been moaning relentlessly in the car in both directions and at him in our lounge just before lunch was served. For seem reason she didn’t do this when I was around … 🤷♀️ very odd - she doesn’t normally have much of a filter! 😉😂 He was really cross - for Mr KK to criticise his mum is very unusual. We finished clearing the kitchen and then had a quiet afternoon on the sofa, reading (I finished my 80th book this year! 😊👏🤩) and eating junk. I think Mr KK’s equilibrium is somewhat more restored now ❤️

Sounds like a quiet evening on the sofa is the very thing!5

Finished the 80th book of 2025 - a cheerful froth novel 😊
Potted up my garlic in the shed - some of mine I had saved from this year and the biggest cloves from the new bulbs I bought in. The small cloves from my bulbs I have put back into ingredients stock 😊
Didn’t get myself organised enough to have the planned lunch (home made rolls and HM soup) so Mr KK had prawn cocktail and salad and bread and I had various qu0rn / h1gg1dy things with salad and crackers 😊
Lots of tapestry done - I’m in the super slooooow bit of individual stitches in larger patches of other colours … Soooo close to finishing! 😊
Ordered myself a chunky, wide garden obelisk as a better, more practical support for my sweet peas. I really wanted a zinc coated one but went for a powder coated black one in the end, at £100 cheaper. Bit of an indulgence, but my previous support system for sweet peas has been bugging me for ages. I have already asked Mr KK to rattle-can the silver coloured screw heads for when it arrives and is built … 😉
Colcannon and batches for dinner – easy and tasty 😊
Tomorrow we must get a bit more active! Mr KK is suggesting we go bramble bashing 😊

Bit patchy with sleep last night - don’t think I got enough exercise yesterday.Got up early, did fifteen minutes on duo and a yoga session (2 days running now - I have been channelling @Cheery_Daff and doing it in front of the Christmas tree 😊) - I’m as stiff as a board! 😂).I made colcannon last night! 😊 Used up the last of it mixed in with left over stuffing as fried off patties with fried baby tomatoes and fried eggs for breakfast this morning (that’s two little bowls out of the fridge! 😉)
Then got out in the garden with Mr KK - he did some very heroic bramble bashing - some of the ones down the back of the veggie patch were huge! 😳 Meanwhile, I started on some more edging of beds. I ended up extending a bed (like you do! 😉😂) that was too small / narrow since I created it - took a new edge line for the bed that lined up with the edge of some paving so it looks more logical / intentional now 😊 Then carried on cleaning those paving slabs that create a boundary between ‘lawn’ and a gravelled area - by the time I’d done that lot (7m or so in total) and done some incidental weeding along the way (flipping sticky weed is growing already! 😳😳😳🙄) I had filled two wheelbarrows. That was enough for a session, but it’s set to remain dry this week so I will keep going with the edging, which should go quicker as the week goes on, as I won’t also be extending beds! 😂
I think ….. I have finished last year’s tapestry!!! 🎉🎊🤩 Did a final push last night and stopped just before bedtime. But I want to check for any further gaps in daylight before I take it off the frame and show you 😊
Out to see a friend (my very serious gardening friend) for a brew this afternoon and Mr KK will be chicken wrestling this afternoon so I can make him chicken, chips and salad tonight 😊

I did find yet more gaps, but I think it’s all done now! 😊

Gorgeous tapestry. What do you do with them when finished?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Honestly …. Nothing! They are all in a drawer … But I’m considering framing this one and definitely the next one I will be doing 😊Watty1 said:Gorgeous tapestry. What do you do with them when finished?

I'd be making that into a nice cushion if you decide not to frame it. Gorgeous!KajiKita said:

Beautiful work! That would make a fabulous cushion for when you're sitting out enjoying the garden.
