Look away now if you want something financial. We are approaching the threshold of winter.Life is being drawn into the earth, painlessly descending down into the very heart of herself. And we as natural human animals are being called to do the same, the pull to descend into our bodies, into sleep, darkness and the depths of our own inner caves continually tugging at our marrow. But many find the descent into their own body a scary thing indeed, fearing the unmet emotions and past events that they have stored in the dark caves inside themselves, not wanting to face what they have so carefully and unkindly avoided. This winter solstice time is no longer celebrated as it once was, with the understanding that this period of descent into our own darkness was so necessary in order to find our light. That true freedom comes from accepting with forgiveness and love what we have been through and vanquishing the hold it has on us, bringing the golden treasure back from the cave of our darker depths. This is a time of rest and deep reflection, a time to wipe the slate clean as it were and clear out the old so you can walk into spring feeling ready to grow and skip without a dusty mountain on your back & chains around your ankles tied to the caves in your soul.A time for the medicine of story, of fire, of nourishment and love.A period of reconnecting, relearning & reclaiming of what this time means brings winter back to a time of kindness, love, rebirth, peace and unburdening instead of a time of dread, fear, depression and avoidance. This modern culture teaches avoidance at a max at this time; alcohol, lights, shopping, overworking, over spending, bad food and consumerism. And yet the natural tug to go inwards as nearly all creatures are doing is strong and people are left feeling as if there is something wrong with them, that winter is cruel and leaves them feeling abandoned and afraid. Whereas in actual fact winter is so kind, yes she points us in her quiet soft way towards our inner self, towards the darkness and potential death of what we were, but this journey if held with care is essential. She is like a strong teacher that asks you to awaken your inner loving elder or therapist, holding yourself with awareness of forgiveness and allowing yourself to grieve, to cry, rage, laugh, & face what we need to face in order to be freed from the jagged bonds we wrapped around our hearts, in order to reach a place of healing & light without going into overwhelm.Winter takes away the distractions, the noise and presents us with the perfect time to rest and withdraw into a womb like love, bringing fire & light to our hearth.Author ~Brigit Anna McNeillShared with ❤️🌀NicoleSacred Wild Woman MedicineArtist~Bryony Bensly

That posting touched me. I love that we can rest, reflect and clear out to join spring as renewed versions of ourselves.
I have always thought of this season as a promise that the light will return but I like also that we can view it not only as the light returning but the better bigger parts of our soul waking up after a rest.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Glad it resonated @ladybird1106, @Watty1 😊
Two loads of washing wrangled, one novel finished, Toscos shop processed, a little bit of cross stitch done and my very serious gardening friend visited. MVSGF gave me a whole heap of dahlia tubers that I had admired in her garden when I flower this summer, that weren’t the colour she wanted. I don’t remember them very clearly but hey, I’ll take her expensive, top quality, cast offs! 😉
Curry takeaway tonight from my £25 PB win 😊

Had a couple of ideas about presents …
Sent an email to a garden centre near my mother about a spring bulbs pot for her for Christmas to see if they can help as I can’t find an online option that I like …
I discovered the that husband of my VSGF buys all his coffee from a local coffee roaster in the next town. Mr KK really likes his strong cup of coffee at the end of his working day, so I have ordered three varieties in small quantities for him to try 😊

Loved the words about winter @KajiKita. August is melancholy but autumn and winter are glorious when embraced. Love Humdinger xx6

Wise words! Easy to forget that all of our winter festivals are designed to be a short break in the midst of that drawing in, a reminder that it won't last forever and we, like the rest of the world will spring forth shortly. Two months of excess ain't what we're made for.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Mr 🐞 gets coffee beans from my mum for Christmas and his birthday. His favourite at the moment is monsoon Malabar dark roasted. She buys a couple of varieties plus his favourite from our local coffee and tea merchants. He really appreciates them. He loves Saturday mornings grinding them and making a big pot of coffee. He says it’s the best way to start the weekend.

KajiKita - I was reading your Winter post and going 'yup, yup, I agree, I think that....' over almost every word. So thank you so much for posting - and the bit about 'avoidance' rang true too. How many people are 'lonely/lost' in the midst of a racous Christmas party (office or otherwise), when because the music is loud, the booze is flowing and the lights are flashing, you're supposed to be having 'the time of your life' 🙄Merlin's_Beard said:Wise words! But I also loved Merlin's Beard follow-up post. The first sentence is an excellent summation of what I would like winter/solstice/Christmas/the end of November to mid February to be or mean. The second sentence is probably the root of much that is wrong in our (western) 'worlds'/societies/organisations/social groupings. We've become conditioned to take on/in more, much more (to excess) at a time when we actually need to be letting out, letting go, stilling, reflecting and quieting down.
Thank you both for your posts. I know it wasn't your primary intention, but I for one feel 'heard' about my preferences/wants/needs for this particular time of year that we are moving into.
