@edinburgher, I think it may depend a bit on your soil but I’ve always found shallots a very reliable crop and easy to grow. They are one of my dependables 😊

Your parish council communications made me laugh. Our parish council newsletter is delivered by hand (well, by land-rover 😂). Hand written, and then photocopied 😊 lots of underlining and sometimes little drawings too, very sweet. I do wonder what will happen when the current secretary goes (they're quite old...). Will we get boring printed newsletters, or none at all??

Love the idea of buying something from the garden centre and doing your own award to Mr KK 😁.
Sounds like a few busy days. This is how my June went, I had lots in the diary that I thought I'd like to do but by the end of it I was wanting solitude and my sofa and a cup of tea 🤣🤣🤣.
Hope today is gentle with you.

Could you explain the “plant leaves in the bathroom” please? I sometimes use mine to wipe around a bit but if there’s something else I could be doing I am always open to ideas!

I have a largeish, sword like, leafy foliage plant in the bathroom whose leaves get dusty.
After I have used the cotton wool pad on my face (with water) I then use it on the leaves. I support the leaf from underneath and move the supporting hand and the cotton wool pad, up the leaf from the stalk to the tip. It's not perfect, but it does shift the worst of the dust and freshens the plant up a bit.

Thanks for the bindweed suggestion - I suspect it will be blocked in work so I will have a look when I get home :)

I put my houseplants out when it is warm and raining to get the dust off. They are currently very dusty as a result.

I don't say this often but OMG!!!  I'm definitely going to try this.  I've got the wretched stuff in my front garden and it's a constant battle but if this will kill the roots safely I'll be very very happy.

I might have to try that bindweed method too. It's coming in through the neighbours fence and I can't get to the roots at all!
