@edinburgher, I think it may depend a bit on your soil but I’ve always found shallots a very reliable crop and easy to grow. They are one of my dependables 😊

Your parish council communications made me laugh. Our parish council newsletter is delivered by hand (well, by land-rover 😂). Hand written, and then photocopied 😊 lots of underlining and sometimes little drawings too, very sweet. I do wonder what will happen when the current secretary goes (they're quite old...). Will we get boring printed newsletters, or none at all??3

Love the idea of buying something from the garden centre and doing your own award to Mr KK 😁.
Sounds like a few busy days. This is how my June went, I had lots in the diary that I thought I'd like to do but by the end of it I was wanting solitude and my sofa and a cup of tea 🤣🤣🤣.

All very quiet here. Mr KK working and continuing with the paths here. I’m refilling a 3 litre bottle every evening with filtered water for him to take into work each day. Work is getting a bit more busy for me but still pretty fun 😊 Quietly beetling on with the garden ornamental but have pretty much given up on the veggie patch for this year - I have shallots to harvest and courgettes are coming online but the rest is buried in bindweed again 🙄🤷♀️ Greenhouse is coming online with cucumbers and tomatoes but peppers not! 😂 (Don’t know what it is about me and peppers!).
Nothing very MSE here - surveys limp, spends are focused on the paths so no OPs atm but am quietly using cotton wool pads after cleaning my face to wipe down edges and plant leaves in my bathroom 😉

Could you explain the “plant leaves in the bathroom” please? I sometimes use mine to wipe around a bit but if there’s something else I could be doing I am always open to ideas!Mortgage OP 2025 £7700/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I have a largeish, sword like, leafy foliage plant in the bathroom whose leaves get dusty.skint_spice said:Could you explain the “plant leaves in the bathroom” please? I sometimes use mine to wipe around a bit but if there’s something else I could be doing I am always open to ideas!
After I have used the cotton wool pad on my face (with water) I then use it on the leaves. I support the leaf from underneath and move the supporting hand and the cotton wool pad, up the leaf from the stalk to the tip. It's not perfect, but it does shift the worst of the dust and freshens the plant up a bit.
Thanks for the bindweed suggestion - I suspect it will be blocked in work so I will have a look when I get home

I put my houseplants out when it is warm and raining to get the dust off. They are currently very dusty as a result. My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

I don't say this often but OMG!!! I'm definitely going to try this. I've got the wretched stuff in my front garden and it's a constant battle but if this will kill the roots safely I'll be very very happy.skint_spice said:I just saw this on instagram and thought of you hopefully you can see it - for the bindweed!

I might have to try that bindweed method too. It's coming in through the neighbours fence and I can't get to the roots at all!Emergency Fund goal - £717.77/1500
