Yep, I say don't even remind him next time.
I do understand. I have a hard line with this, but there are lots of things like it where I do something over and over that Mr C could do for himself, then get resentful about it. It doesn't help him in the long run, and an undercurrent of resentment just bubbles up in other things. Best all round to just say no (and I will endeavour to take my own advice 😬)
Happy new haircut! 😊4 -

Happy new haircut! 😊Thank you 😊 I am all fluffy and shaggy again 😊
Also, went into sainsbugs and bought LOTS of biscuits for my last day 😊
Popped into moooorisons and found a four pack of per0ni for my technician as a thank you. Also bought some baby beers for Mr KK.
Mr KK meanwhile has been painting more of the new render around the externals of the new fireplace and where we moved the French doors. Looks lots better.
First washing load is as dry as dry! 😊👏

Baileys_Babe said:I don't think you are being unreasonable about not buying the card. His Mum's birthday is always in April he doesn't need to wait until the last minute to buy the card. Does he use a calendar, diary or birthday book he needs to look in it and plan for events that are coming up. Even better if he uses an online calendar where he can set notifications to remind him.
He is an adult and needs to take responsibility. Sometime after MIL's birthday can you talk to him about how he is going to manage this and similar situations in the future without you reminding him.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I second @Baileys_Babe suggestion you have a post MIL’s birthday summit about this sort of thing. I have had similar situations during our marriage and when I was still working full time and he had retired it seriously hit a boiling point. It’s always the small stuff too.
As an aside we both watched the BBC film ‘Misbehaving’ this afternoon on Netflix. If you’ve not seen it it’s about the Woman’s Liberation movement and protests at the 1970 Miss World contest. I thoroughly enjoyed the film and asked Mr SF if he did too. He will be 79 tomorrow so a young man in that era. He said “well it didn’t really affect me all that”! I had to very calmly say “let’s just leave it at that”, exited room and felt like screaming.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

RIP Mum & Dad - thanks for helping me on my journey to be
Debt and Mortgage free from 20183 -
Thanks @beanielou 😊
Thanks also to @brie and @Sallyforth. I don’t want to have a full blown conversation about it. He will remember the discomfort of my reaction when it comes around next year. I will remind him again, but I will make it clear that he has to get whatever he is doing for his mum’s birthday organised himself … I will see it as a coaching exercise 😉
As predicted, this has been something of a non weekend for me with almost no time in the garden (managed to get 10 minutes of dead heading done this afternoon) and lots of running around / not much ‘me’ time. It has helped a bit by recognising up front, that this would be the case. I have managed to cook two batches (made a stunning veggie bolognese this morning - someone on here mentioned adding blitzed walnuts - transformative! 🤩😊👏), got all the washing done and mostly put away, hosted MiL for her birthday lunch, contacted the PC team about the feedback from a neighbour about the pressure the council are coming under to close a green lane to powered vehicles (my neighbour is PASSIONATELY opposed to the closure) and arranged to have lunch at a friends during my week off 😊At least I only have four days to go until I get a proper long break ….

A crumb more progress.Shuffled pots about so there was room to move the potted up begonia tubers and comfrey roots into the conservatory for warmth and light.Pricked out cosmos 😊🌸
Sowed courgette, cucumber, mini sunflower and candelabra primula - the latter needs stratification which I’m not normally very successful with, so please cross your fingers for me …

I'd better get the heated propagator out then. If I do mine at the same time as you, then maybe I'll remember to shove them in the fridge!3
