I love a nice notebook. I have an office full of half finished ones (hardly MSE). I also love myrtle and tried to grow it in my garden very unsuccessfully, it might have been the sand or WattyDog but it refused to grow.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

I've had a little wobble this morning .... The news is finally getting round that I am leaving. When I was checking something in the sewing area this morning, one of the them came up to me and said she was sorry I was leaving. She really liked how I in, was serious and firm about the quality of the work, and then once that was done, friendly. She said it had been noted, waving her arm behind here, at the rest of the team. She also said how much her daughter (who also works here) had appreciated me taking the time to speak to her about her anxiety (recently diagnosed). It left me a bit overwhelmed. I hate this bit ...

They want you to know that they value your professionalism and your warmth. Shame they were not friendlier sooner, but as the song goes, You Don't know what you've got til it's gone.
You have made an impact, and helped the company realise what they actually need from this role, which was not the role you interviewed for.
So just like if you were a temp, or short term contractor, you have fulfilled your end, and now everyone gets to tell you you are excellent, and you get to tell them it is nothing personal.
At some point you just have to let people tell you that you are fab ( real people, not us Invisible friend cheerleaders) .

Very hard end to the week. Utter chaos in work today, from 7am to 1.30pm getting samples and inspection reports through the verification process. And as I predicted, the ones that failed were the ones that I said weren’t good enough to submit but no one would listen to me. 🙄 Only 4 more days ….
As I had got in so early this morning I left at 3. Got home and had a short breather and then got the bathroom and loo cleaned and made a start on clearing the dining table. It's MiL's birthday on Sunday and so she is coming to lunch. That means me getting the house up together and cooking (fortunately we have decided on something simple) and I’m losing three hours to my haircut tomorrow.
Am I being unfair? I had a feeling Mr KK would ask me to buy his mum a birthday card for him. He did just now and I said no, as he's never done that for me and bought a card for my parents. He's a bit huffy, but I'm fed up with his expectation and lack of gratitude for me doing it.KKAs at 15.07.25:

Absolutely not unfair KK. That's a hard line for me, I'm afraid, and I always stick by it. I don't buy presents for Mr C's family, and if that means they go without, or they get stuff that I wouldn't choose, then so be it. I make occasional exceptions for small children if we're going to see them, and if eg I'm buying a few of one thing for several kids I buy for. Perfectly reasonable I'd say!1

Not at all unfair. He's a grown man, with enough money to buy a card. And you're busy, and tired, and stressed. Why would you need an extra job he's perfectly capable of doing? And it's his mum. Who's not very nice. If he wants to never have to buy her anything ever again because they're not speaking you can always volunteer to do a hand made one with a drawing of someone shoving gravel down a wedding dress.

Totally agree, he could get one from a petrol station, why is your time less valuable than his ?Sealed pot challenge 822

Thank you @Cheery_Daff, @PennysIntoPounds, @dawnybabes - I appreciate your perspective. It pretty much chimes with my own. Unfortunately he doesn’t see anything wrong with his mum and basically denied that she has ever done anything unpleasant, he has a real blind spot about her … 🤷♀️In the end I did bring down 4 or 5 possible cards from my stash but MADE him choose one! Ugh it makes me so cross. He thanked me for saving him time … 🙄 I wouldn’t mind but he would have completely forgotten it was her birthday this weekend if I hadn’t reminded him a couple of weeks ago ….
Moving on ….
Haircut this morning so I am up early, one load in the machine already ready to be hung out before I leave and next one in.Library after haircut and then pottering around here. I want to make a new batch of mushroom pate ‘loaf’ for the roast dinner tonight 😊

I don't think you are being unreasonable about not buying the card. His Mum's birthday is always in April he doesn't need to wait until the last minute to buy the card. Does he use a calendar, diary or birthday book he needs to look in it and plan for events that are coming up. Even better if he uses an online calendar where he can set notifications to remind him.
He is an adult and needs to take responsibility. Sometime after MIL's birthday can you talk to him about how he is going to manage this and similar situations in the future without you reminding him.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
