Having a pootling day here - wild weather and aches from my two hours (only two! 😳) of gardening yesterday.Financial updates all done - food spend seems quite low … not sure why 🤷♀️Most significant thing I have done today is to get a bit more organised for Mr KK’s birthday next Sunday …
- card written
- ‘voucher’ created for a week’s pay for him so he can take a week off when it’s nice, as and when he feels like it 😊. Voucher put in with card.
- retrieved his new heated gilet for working in the garage and ‘wrapped it’ with a ribbon - it would take waaaay too much paper to actually wrap it!We will be going to Hay on Wye in my car next Saturday for a day out, I will buy lunch and a Chinese takeaway for dinner. I will also buy him some new slippers after the wrong size debacle at Christmas - he should be able to choose exactly which ones he wants 🤞 His mum is coming to lunch next Sunday which I will be cooking for. I have also booked a table at our favourite restaurant for the following Saturday. I hope that makes him feel spoilt enough 😊

Ordered a dishwasher via TCB. Yes, it’s a bit indulgent but sometimes washing up is the last thing we feel like doing at the end of a long day! It will mean we mop up the ‘night before’, the morning and the worst of the evening’s washing up, giving us a bit of time back 😊 Mr KK was sceptical about buying a narrow one as he didn’t think it would take enough ‘stuff’ but it’s only us two and we wouldn’t want it ‘sitting’ for more than 24 hours.KKAs at 15.07.25:

The birthday plans sound splendid to me.

Is Hay on Wye still full of lovely old second-hand bookshops? I have not been there for years, used to go with my mum and step father (both second hand bookdealers)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
A family member somehow survives with a narrow dishwasher despite being a family of 5 but it means more regular use
I really want one but would have to pay for moving of pipes and in a rental it’s pointless - an upside when I buy !Mr Kk sounds like he is v cared forDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes, @Watty1 and we are both bookaholics! 😉😂 There is also a lovely crystal jewellery shop in the little complex at the top of the main car park. Good places to eat too 😊 But there are genuinely useful hardware shops, clothes shops, a chemist and a footwear shop. Thanks @redofromstart 😊 and no, I would never have had one when I was in a rental either @LadyWithAPlan. Elisheba rents, loathes washing up and she has a small work surface one that she loves 😊
