What a pl**ker Col Colon is and seems to be incredibly short sighted too. Better away from such a toxic individual.
I’d echo the others about the value of your skills and experience. Hope the process can be completed quickly for the benefit of all really but especially for you. Hone your negotiation skills too. Looking forward to reading of your next role.3 -

Thanks all 😊
@f0xh0les, I’m not OP’ing anything until I have a new role / income secured …. 😉
Today has truly been a very ODD day. You go in to work after being told that you are ‘the wrong person for the role’ and you will be paid off to leave …. And …. Your boss behaves like nothing happened, and where’s that report, and have you got the slides, when will the supplier send the new parts, etc etc …. It was very … well … odd … 🙄
I have started acquiring reference options and quietly taking home some key things that are mine from my time there - training manuals from external courses etc. Worked from 6.50am to 5.15pm today and tomorrow is likely to be similar… remind me how I am so dispensable ….?? 🤷♀️😂
I did cancel the 1:1 that we were meant to be having late this afternoon on the grounds that we both had prep to do for the big visit happening on Thursday…. There was no way I could face sitting down with him 1 on 1 today ….
I did tell my senior quality engineer what is happening. He nearly broke me by saying that I had made a real difference and that if I ever need a quality engineer to call him … He’s properly northern, an ex ship builder, VERY dry, reserved and doesn’t say this kind of stuff EVER …. I was a bit stunned … (we’ve been through some hefty stuff over the past 2+ years (I defended him when senior management above the site were trying to pin him for an issue that stopped shipments to one set of customers for 12 months - he’s not forgotten that).I found today hard. To settle, concentrate, relax, focus … Am hoping tomorrow will be easier now I have done the first day.

It shows when someone is a good person and puts their shift in.
It shows to all of us, and it shows to your usually reserved colleague, and to doubtless many others you work with who may not find words to say it.
Remember not to prioritise thinking about the tw*ttery of Captain Colon and Delinquent Charge when you're feeling stressed or insecure. I promise that how thoroughly decent you are will shine through in whatever (exciting albeit knackering) challenges you choose to encounter next xhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Incredulous at your place of work but I like that Senior Quality Engineer, he embodies what happens when there is a good person in the workplace, he knows you are that and he told you so, and he wants to work with you again.
That is worth so much more than your idiot of a boss. I mean who seriously thinks you will be going above and beyond for the idiot now ?????Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

Thanks @f0xh0les, @beanielou, @Watty1, @PennysIntoPounds, @savingholmes 😊
I found yesterday very hard. I ‘pressed the button’ (after finding out that the union chap will be available Wednesday/Thursday next week) and sent the email requesting the protected conversation. It felt like pulling a trigger at my own head …. Union chap was all for fighting for the job and making it work until he realised that my boss was ‘the German one’ and then said ‘he’s not very nice’ - that seemed pretty loaded.In spite of all of the above, had a constructive meeting about a supplier issue we are having, so we all understand the same thing and senior quality engineer can deliver his first supplier audit well in October, probably after I leave … (feels so surreal to think in these terms).Collected another reference. Brought home a lot of my training notes from my time there.Started realising what I won’t miss (various personalities, demands from team members that would always have been difficult to fulfil, the relentless pace etc etc)
Finished at a sensible time so I could get home in time to go out again to the parish council meeting. That went really well: constructive, funny, positive, courteous etc etc. Made a strong contrast to my day job! I also got to hand over to the new Chair who I think will be really good 😊 Really happy about this.
I have decided that when the axe finally falls, I will give myself a clear, 2 weeks off. No LI, job searches, CV updating, contacting networks, anything. Just living, self care and rest. The house might get a bit of cleaning and the garden some TLC in especially grim areas … 😉 Mr KK agrees.Managed two rows of knitting last night, a small OP of £5.72 from QM33 surveys and a cwtch from Chloe-Bean (as Mr KK has christened her 😉😂❤️).
