Blimey, well done you for still being in a job after not clouting him round the earhole while shouting 'you are literally being paid to do at least the minimum of bloody turning up on time!'
I don't know if it's a generational thing as there have always been workshy people with wild delusions of their own specialness, but I admit it seems like more younger people who grew up with the internet suffer from it..
(Though of course the vast majority of younger people are hard working and respectful and should not have their good names sullied by those who behave like t*ts!)3 -
I think the fact he has already been dismissed from other roles for persistent lateness (and still not learned his lesson 🤦♀️) speaks volumes!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Problem is that it's such a demotivator for others on the team if one person is allowed to waltz in late every day.
I did have a team where there were some like that and had been told that everyone needed to work 9 - 5. Talked to the team and one person was quite put out as that was the worst time for her to get to work and could she please come in early instead. And leave early too of course. In the end there were a few that found 9 - 5 convenient but a couple of others that wanted something different. I said that as long as they were consistent that would be fine as it meant that the department actually had better coverage and people worked better because the hours suited them.
But the difference is that this was a team agreeing on it en masse rather than one entitled person rolling their eyes at how mean it was for them to be expected to be some where as noted in their contract.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @PennysIntoPounds, you made me laugh 😆@Brie, @southcoast, quite. I am pretty flexible and tolerant - people have children, car issues, leaks, appliance problems and all the other ‘life stuff’, so, if they let me know and make up the time in the same week (or book the required annual leave) we are good. However, when I interviewed this individual, I was very clear - there were two requirements: 8.30am each day for the production meeting and 10am two days a week for our team meeting. They agreed at the time but then once we got past their six months probationary period … 🤷♀️

That’s even worse KK - that they managed until after they had finished their probationary period. In fact it says they could do it but they are choosing not to do so.

Struggled a bit yesterday. It was haircut day, which means three hours out of my day and two hours of driving. Always leaves me tired. Spent far too much time on the sofa watching downt0n … Don’t feel like I achieved much …
However, let’s be positive:
- 3 loads of washing wrangled and mostly line dried in spite of the sporadic drizzle
- 4 rows of knitting done and got to the end of another ball of wool - think I will use one more and then stop - the lap blanket should be long enough then
- rung my mother to wish her happy birthday - she was on good form and quite chatty for once 😊
- ‘treated’ us to a new, branded water filter jug. The old one is covering in crazing at the time of the walls and getting to the point that it can’t be cleaned very well any more. We’ve had it for c. 11 years so we have had good use from it. The new one cost £12 and I had £12.50 in n3ctar points, so in effect it was free 😊
- did some tidying up of houseplants whilst waiting for toscos to appear and dealt with all of that on my own as Mr KK was up to his elbows cooking a batch 😊
- helped Mr KK a bit with getting the gear box back in the Bedford - nothing technical - I was on the hydraulic hoist handle - but it was three handed job so at least I was useful 😉 The gear box is back in, Mr KK delighted as he wants to take this truck to a show next weekend 😊
- cleaned the office desk and started totting up spends on bathroom project v. the initial plan …. Ummm … Wr are significantly over budget, but a lot closer to what I thought it would be than what Mr KK thought. We costed it out at c. £3.3K but actually it’s more like £4.4K. I put £4K of my bonus this year aside to cover the cost. The overspend is mildly annoying but not desperate.
The biggest ‘overspends’ were around things we had either completely forgotten (the shower head and controller for example), had chosen to significantly upgrade (e.g. the vanity unit moved from being a simple cupboard to being a really nice, soft touch, drawer unit) or things that aren’t exactly needed but are wants e.g. a new toilet roll holder as the old one is a bit corroded.I shared all of this with Mr KK and he was a bit shocked and we have agreed that for the next project - the paving around the house and on the patio that we want to do next year, we will really try to anticipate every single cost we can. This is me getting us to cut our teeth on this approach as Mr KK is used to just having materials provided for him to use and the rough costs of things in his head always seem to be c. 10 years behind what they actually are. We want to do an extension for a utility here, but I really don’t want to start that until we are sure we can afford it without dipping too much into EFs or other set aside savings.Actually, reading all that, that isn’t such a bad day, is it 😊
