Well …. The letter giving …
Ummm ….
Their response was basically that they couldn’t get up early enough to get to work on time and I would ‘have to bear with them’ until they learn to drive and they are no longer dependent on public transport. They wouldn’t commit to trying to getting to work on time as they had done that before and all that happens is that they can’t do it and gets the sack so won’t get set up by promising something they can’t do.There was much talk about anxiety and not sleeping properly. I would have somewhat more sympathy if they weren’t guzzling energy drinks all day …
There was such a sense of arrogance, complacency and entitlement from them that it left me feeling quite powerless. I messaged HR (she had left for leave) and she came back to say that we have given the letter stating that timely attendance is a requirement of the role, to keep a log of what time my employee actually turns in and she will discuss with ‘legal’ about at what point he is in breach of his employment contract.KKAs at 15.08.25:

I hesitate to suggest this but does HR have a well being budget/role? Could a health coach be of use along the lines of guzzling energy drinks will make the sleep and anxiety worse?
I must say I rolled my eyes at the excuses about not getting to work on time, I am notoriously late for everything but i really do try to get to work on time as that is really important.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
We are going to go down the Occ Health route as well.It was just the shrug response, like it was me making a fuss or being unreasonable that got me.KKAs at 15.08.25:

I wonder what would happen if the accounts person decided they would have to ' bear with them' as they were too tired to do all of payroll on time and the rest would just have to suck it up and get paid .. I dunno, later on ..... maybe tomorrow ?
I know that is how it works when you work for family ( I moved half the length of the country to release DH from working for his Uncle's company), but it is no excuse when you are not related.
You did nothing wrong. Perhaps it will spur them on to pass their test and having a license will be a selling point at the next job interview. You are focusing their mind on what they need to do to improve in their next role.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that your report is under 30.... There is honestly such a generational difference in the understanding of how the world works - you've definitely hit the nail on the head with "entitlement". Things I wouldn't even dream of thinking are now said with pride and an attitude that leaves you feeling like a dinosaur.
Not that this helps you in any way at all, just wanted to let you know you're not the only dinosaur!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!2 -

Anyway … moving on … 😉
Mr KK mowed and strimmed, and raked this evening - Hero! ❤️🤩 I have some tidying to do around the edges, but it’s a big leg up 😊
We did some tidying in the office - I will tackle the desk tomorrow morning.
I have quietly been keeping up with my knitting. It’s starting to ‘become’ a blanket 😊
Cats are puking 🙄 but otherwise in final fettle … 😂
New parish council member is happy to step up to be Chair so long as I remain as vice chair. I think we could have a fair bit of fun working together so this is really good news 😊
We have swopped two standing lamps so the one next to Mr KK’s side of the sofa is no longer buzzing - he is happier 😊
Haircut tomorrow, along with putting new shelves etc up in the bathroom.KKAs at 15.08.25:
