Broad beans make more nitrogen than they use, and they fix it in the nodules in their roots, so ground level cutting of plant, and as the root breaks down the soil becomes much healthier. My grandfather used to dig a trench, fill with his veg scraps and peelings, cover over slightly with soil, and then planted his beans on top, the heat from the composting material made them grow faster, and as they are greedy and they love a rich compost, their roots went straight down into very fertile compost.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

You will have a bumper crop this year then (fingers crossed!). If this summer ever actually gets going for more than 2 hours at a time. It was glorious this morning, and then, 11.00 lashed down, glorious for 30 minutes, then big black clouds, another downpour and grey and cold ever since! I am in a thick hoodie to stay warm.It is supposed to pick up on Wednesday though, just in time for the solstice, maybe it will stay warm for a while ...?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

It could do with being a bit warmer, even for me ….
Dug out the building regs final report for the living room changes, to show to the mortgage surveyor when they come tomorrow morning. (Unconscious bias - I initially put ‘he’!)My mobile is acting up - lost internet - the last time this happened I had to go to the shop to get a new SIM - a total PITA as I never drive in that direction any more. I might see if there is an 33 shop nearer my commute route …. 🤔
Cats are barely eating the wet food. I am getting frustrated by the amount we are wasting. I am inclined to stop feeding them wet food until the colder weather, when I suspect they would be more interested again. Mr KK will worry though, so perhaps the compromise is half a pouch between them each meal time ….? They are still eating kibble.). I am not worried about them as they both seem to be in fine fettle and full of energy. 😊
Two (complex rows, at pattern switch) done last night and am deep in Bridgey series two, which apparently I didn’t watch before cancelling NetFlicks - shame the script is so wooden so far in the the main love arc … 🤷♀️ Still, the dresses and settings are gorgeous 😊😉
Slowly working through Sapiens.
Updated my produce tracker - finally got above £50 this year so far. It is going rather slowly though ….

For some reason Brigerton has not appealed although usually I love a soapy historic drama. Need to find something else to watch here after finishing a Netfix series on a megablack church which was quite fun (Greenleaf).
Actually popped on to say cats are fussy little whatsits on the food front LOL My little 'feral' will only eat some very expensive wet food that is grain free and blah blah yet happily pinches WattyDogs food which does not meet her personally firmly expressed requirements. Does make me laughMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

I found they accepted dry food quite well as long as it was fresh. Which meant buying the more expensive smaller bags but ultimately less was wasted so maybe it saved ££ after all? Another trick was to ensure the wet food, when they got it, was warm. quick boil of the kettle, splash a bit in and give it a mush. Good thing the little dears are so cute else they'd be getting cold grits.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I didn’t give them any fresh food this morning and just a shared pouch of wet food across two bowls tonight. When they FINALLY came in from the garden this evening (think sulky teenagers and Mr KK as the nagging father! 😂) they fell in the all freshly cleaned food tray and took a few genteel sips of the wet food … 😉 Good tip about the warm water @Brie 😊👍
Picked £18.63 (1.129kg) of fresh strawberries this evening 🤩 whilst Mr KK cooked, including the little tiny ones you can’t buy 😊 Had strawberries and ice cream this evening, gave a pile to the neighbours and still have a lot left! We will have strawberries and ice cream again tomorrow and anything left I will turn into a bit of compote.
Mobile phone fixed with new sim. The ‘face’ my boss made when I asked to leave work 30 minutes early to get to the appointment… 🙄 I will get in to work at 7am tomorrow to ‘make up the time’. Having to walk up into the city centre from the parking meant I got my 10K steps in today 😊 2nd day of not eating sweets in work …. 💪Mortgage payment came out today … if I have my sums right, by this time next month we will finally be sub £250K … That will really feel like a tipping point.Time to do my two rows and then bed 😊
