Status of today’s targets:
- cleaning - I really should! 😂 - Done! 🎉🥳
- at least two rows of knitting - Done, 3 - two rows of complicated 😊
- ring my mother - Done - made her laugh 😊 Tried to talk to my dad but he was deeply immersed in research funding application and wasn’t really in the zone for a conversation … 🤷♀️
- steel myself to ring the councillor who wants to have a meeting about the innocuous looking planning application just to see if he does actually have any valid concerns. Will need to rummage out the guidance I have been given on the grounds we can / can’t object on first so I go in prepped. (I really resent having to deal with this on a BH I have to say!) - Tried but couldn’t get through … 🤷♀️
- finally track down and order bean poles - Done!!
- see whether broad beans are ready for harvesting - they were getting close a couple of days ago. - Done - they are almost ready, this week I think 😊
- plant up the courtyard pots with begonia and lobelia - Done - they look lovely and the courtyard is ‘feeling’ pretty. As it’s a small space it is holding the scent of the azalea I planted there a few weeks ago, which is just lush and it’s already grown 2 inches 😊❤️🤩
- pot on everything in the conservatory that I can’t plant out in the garden yet … 🙄 - Nope but quite few things have been planted out including two BES’s to scramble through the cotoneaster on the side of the south facing garage wall which gets very dull in in summer - hope it works … 🤞- reading - currently devouring a very good book about a man who ended up in the court and prison system in the UK after a really poor start in life. - Done, finished. Not quite the book I thought it was, but finished. Total in my signature updated. Now tired and getting chilly (just wearing a sundress and fleece) - after my cuppa it will be breakfast and lunch prep, lock the shed and shower time.KKAs at 15.08.25:

Glad you had fun in the garden. Your reference to flying jewels made me think of books I've read where creatures do zip about like that and one of the makers used jewels to store power - and therefore to power it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Had a really good day yesterday but it went on too long! Made one of my reports cry with happy shock when I gave her her pay rise letter - massively deserved! 😊🤩 Delivered the Best Practice presentation that we pulled together in the midst of all the other melee. Left work on time! Finally managed, after chasing down the correct number(!), to speak to the Pcouncillor who is completely non-electronic about the planning application and discovered that the reason for his worry-warting is that he hadn’t actually seen it, even though I had asked the Clerk to make sure he had a copy … (I can see that I am going to have to micro-manage the clerk! 🙄). Cue me printing it all off and taking it around to another councillor who will drop it off tomorrow for me (not remotely on my route to anywhere). Ended up staying to 9.30pm which was lovely in some ways as we had a good laugh and a chat, but meant I didn’t get my sofa wind down time before bed and didn’t sleep well …. Sigh ….
I am determined - NO PC business this evening, at all, of any kind!

Hectic but productive day. Had to extend it a bit before getting home as the plumbing place is having issues with getting the wall panels we want - a ‘production issue’ apparently. It’s a least three weeks before they would have any stock of the type we chose and because I have worked in manufacturing too long, I am leery of taking anything after a long stop due to ‘production issues’ (cynical? Moi?! 🤔😂). I have therefore chosen an alternative. The one the plumbing place suggested was beigier which did nothing for me, so I have gone for something lighter, from a different supplier, with a blue grey, slate-like streak in it - inevitably we won’t ‘see’ it much after a month or so of it being installed anyway … 😉 I told plumbing place that I was hoping for a partial refund when he worked out what the difference in price would be … 😉😂
Scanned in the three months of joint account statements showing all our household bills, and sent that off to the mortgage adviser.Mr KK was showered and had made his sandwiches by the time I got home, as he was heading out to a bike meet that we had vaguely discussed over the weekend. Pleased for him as it will do him good 😊 but also mildly frustrated that he *still* won’t get his tax paperwork together for the mortgage advisor, yet again and that is the last piece of info the adviser is waiting for … 🙄. Sigh … Oh well … 🤷♀️
Large copper rings have arrived so I can really get stuck into the planting in the sit spot border this weekend and get in all the perennial sunflower Lemon Queen plants o have grown from seed this year, here and there about the place (I have c. 6 of them) 😊
Teeny, tiny, first harvest of broad beans 🤩❤️ for my tea, lettuce from the greenhouse for tomorrow’s salad, two more rows of knitting done, all lunch and breakfast prep done and kitchen cleaned down. My evening is my own 😊

Such a productive day! Glad Mr KK is doing something nice, but he's not allowed anything else nice on the weekend until he gets that paperwork together! Can he be bribed with an easy but treat brunch/lunch like a toastie if he gets up and does it Saturday morning?
I'm currently eyeing up our toastie maker for Saturday morning for ample sustenance before friends come round to help with moving... must make sure we have some basic food in 😁1 -

Glad all is well over here - the ironed allotment sounds scary - your greenhouses look fantastic btw!I really like the blanket colourDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds, @beanielou and @LadyWithAPlan 😊
I am going to get groompy if the tax documents don’t at least get attempted tonight … I will offer to ‘help’ - that will galvanise him …. 😉😂 To be fair he’s not very bribable or at least I can’t think of any ‘currency’ atm - it would have to be something equally frustrating for me to do that he wants done … 🤔
I am getting *SO* vicariously excited for your move PiP! 🤩❤️😊 Does Mr PiP know that there is a whole community here, cheering you both on. Such good wishes for the move 😊
I’m loving the blanket too 😊 I like choosing really lovely yarns for projects as I am very colour driven and that way I get to work with that colour / yarn for months! I never make anything for me though … Maybe my next project should be for me! I have an amazing yarn I was crocheting a chunky scarf from that is one third done. Maybe I go back to that for the winter so I make something for me 😊
Thanks for the comments about the ’ironed allotment’ LWAP. I have been testing this in my mind over the past few days as I am still wondering if I am overreacting, but whilst I am looking forward to seeing her more, I am still ashamed to show her my garden …. 🤷♀️

Aw thank you 😊 You're welcome to do the moving for me 😂
Don't worry about your friend, your garden has nothing to be ashamed of. Either she'll be polite and pleased for you anyway, or she'll genuinely be admiring that you're able to appreciate gardening and nature in a way that she's not. Don't let her hangups give you hangups!3 -
Couple of busy but good days.Mr KK did try and send over his tax paperwork but MA says it has to be PDFs downloaded from the HRMC website. He has enough to go on to get the application started but has advised Mr KK to ask his accountant to retrieve them - Mr KK is prepared to listen to the MA … 🤷♀️😉
Mr KK has also asked his boss for a day rate increase 👏 Boss didn’t say no 😊
Had more shower panels frustration - the alternative I chose isn’t available either! 🙄😳 So I have ‘settled’ on the beige one I wasn’t mad keen on. They were meant to confirm delivery to me today … but they haven’t. So that’s a call I will have to make on Monday. Mr KK and I have discussed and if there are any more issues I will ask for a refund on these panels and go elsewhere for them …
My canes and copper rings have arrived safely 😊
Actually got out in the garden this evening after work and started work on the sit spot border under the contorted hazel, clearing the campion clumps and weeds ready to plant out my annuals and some more perennials 😊 Enjoying my garden so much more this year, in spite of the mess 😉
