Thanks @Brie, @savingholmes, @Merlin's_Beard, @beanielou and @Humdinger1. Sorry for not replying last night - I kinda shut down a bit when I got home last night tbh. Such a long week.Slept really badly - totally overheating! Think I might cover my summer duvet for sleeping under and have it in my bedroom to swop out for the winter one as and when, as it is so ludicrously warm atm!Dry day here atm. Got Toscos delivering late morning and a tip run and English coaching session booked for this afternoon but other than that the weekend is my own 😊 Vague kind of plan is:
- clean more shelves in kitchen - one at a time if needs be
- tidy potting shed - looks like an explosion in there atm! 😂
- pot on onion seedlings
- sow sweet peas and sweet peppers
- pot up shallots and make room for them in conservatory by removing some ‘dead’ pots - the hyacinths can be rehomed in the garden 😊
- if feeling energetic - clear another veg bed - exercise, light and fresh air
- carry on with my colour doodle piece
- Try to FINISH my butterfly tapestry so i can start something else

Oh! sweet pea planting!! I must do that soon. I've got my toilet rolls ready as someone told me they make the best seedling pots as they allow for nice long roots that then won't get disturbed when you put the roll intact into the soil/pot/whatever. (1 inch cuts made at quarter intervals at one end to fold down to form the bottom of the pot). I've never done this before though have been wanting to try for years. How long before the seedling show up do you think?? Have a holiday coming and will need to get someone to water them possibly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Whilst starting to pot up my onion seedlings this morning, I discovered I was out of compost!! 😳🤯 (This NEVER happens. I always have compost, like I always have tea or coffee in ….!) This means we will have to pop into the garden centre on the way home from the tip this afternoon to get more as I have lots of sowing to do. Send reinforcing vibes that I buy nothing else! 😉

I resisted - absolutely aided by Mr KK taking the Michael, ooh’ing and aah’ing at me, right through all the plant sections! 😂 I was very strongly tempted by some gorgeous Agapanthus by the till but decided to resist until after next payday! 😊 Got two bags of compost and two bags of small chipped bark for £21 (bark was on 2 for 1) from my cash ‘pocket money’ so an NSD day 😊
Tip run done so all rubbish, including van seat that Mr KK swopped over this morning for a new(er) one, is all gone and the drive is tidy. Stopped off at ToolStationary for Mr KK to buy some new vinyl gloves as well, so overall a very efficient trip out and use of fuel 😊

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@brie that made me laugh a lot. I'd have been tempted as well.
i was reading Amateur Gardener on the free library app earlier and the celeriac and kohl rhabi want to go in now, but the tomatoes should wait if unheard of outdoors. I've managed to over winter two chilli plants but some new ones would be sensible. Yesterday's newly bought compost was very wet but I've dried enough out to put a cm in a tray for broccoli micro greens. I suspect cheap broccoli seed would do the same job. I'm also planning on soaking and sprouting some green lentils but am struggling with a tub to start them in.I've found my elderly heated propagator and mr redo will check it is safe to use tomorrow. I plan to scrub many pots tomorrow and tidy the polytunnel. I've got a little cheap shower safe radio that lives in the tunnel and hopefully still works. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
