We’ve had a really lovely chilled day here 😊
I cooked lunch stage by stage through the morning and all of it it came together with two different mains and gravies. The stuffing balls were a touch under done but it didn’t really matter. Harvested parsley and rosemary from my garden for the stuffed mushrooms and roast potatoes respectively. I fell asleep during the kings speech and we are both shattered - we both feel like we are still unwinding. We had a lovely time this afternoon reading epic threads on here and doing tapestry (me) and modelling (him) and eating junk (ahem … 😉).
Rang my parents at 15.10 as per my appointment - my mum was all chit chat, blase cheerful, my dad fretting about my mother’s health (she is starting to struggle to walk or get up and down stairs, is border line diabetic and is not doing things like mowing the lawns any more but won’t get a gardener or allow my dad to help, has a wound that won’t heal (unsurprisingly) and is refusing to see a GP. This is all news to me.). I really didn’t know what to say to him - I appreciate that it’s horrible to live with someone who is deteriorating like this, especially when they are as stubborn and vile as my mum they can be when she is thwarted, but tbh I have to confess that my sympathy is somewhat limited when he has enabled all of her behaviours for 60 odd years, including the way she behaved towards their child i.e. me. I have said I will go away and think about what he has told me and see if there is anything I can suggest.
EDIT: Evil thought mode - What might get her moving is if he starts waving stair lift brochures around under her nose. She would LOATHE the thought of using such a thing. That might get her moving …. 😉

Oh, it's horrible when you see behaviour patterns in your parents that you know aren't doing them any good, and at the same time will only impact you negatively if you try and interfere. Even worse when you see them directing behaviours at each other when you know how it feels to be on the receiving end. I think sometimes all we can do is admit we can't do as much as we wish we could. Well done for a nice peaceful day otherwise, though.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Well done for a nice peaceful day otherwise, though.I have been talking it over with Mr KK and we both think there is no fixing it - she either needs intense counselling to start to unpack and process all her internal rage or to take up a daily yoga practice - both of which are wildly unlikely to happen …. 🤷♀️ I think this recognition of how unbudgeable the whole situation is for her, is why I am not more upset (unless I am blocking it out?). There’s no point me putting any great energy into it as it will be wasted.
I suppose all I can do is be a support to my dad, who has never really talked to me in this way before. It seems that at the age of 53 I might finally be deemed an adult … 🙄😉
