Evening all,
Set up a payment plan with SafetyNet doing £80PM so I plan on saving £40 from each jobs every month and paying it that way.
Should find out from sainsburys on the 5th if I get a contract. If so I'm going to be asking to up me to 16 hours a week rather than 12. Even though I pick up extra over time anyway.
Also need to sit down and budget all my bills again as I'm slowly slipping into just wasting my money again and not knowing where its going.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. So, my manager from sainsburys just messaged me and asked if I could work tomorrow. I don't really want to but I need the money so I said yes
so I'll just swap out my Tuesday that I usually pick up over time with and work tomorrow. Now a mad rush to make my work lunch

Sounds like a solid decision on the work front - better to have the certainty while you're still debt-busting.

Hi Jade,
I've just come across your diary and your adorable dog Django! I haven't read your previous diary as I'm fairly new to the forum.
I'm so sorry for your loss, losing your grandad must have been tough. Along with Covid, you've had a difficult time but you seem so positive and motivated. Very impressive that you've taken on an extra job - especially with those early hours!
Hope you're still managing to get some downtime for yourself1 -

Haha thank you, I'm going to start taking him for walks up the mountains after working in Sainsburys, hopefully it will be nice and quiet. That's okay, you're welcome to follow along on this one!
Yes, it wasn't the greatest but life must continue. Thanks, I love working at Sainsburys! The 19 hour working days are tough but I'm more used to it than when I started in October. I find out next Saturday if Sainsburys are going to offer me a permeant contract. Fingers crossed!!
I've had yesterday and today off from Sainsburys as there wasn't any extra over time. I usually work Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays but always pick up the extra! But, I am at my main job.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Hi Jade,
I don’t recall seeing a SOE done by you (please correct me if I’m wrong!), what I am struggling with is how you are having to work 19 hour days just to tackle (what I would consider to be a relatively small) debt. From what I understand, you have a full time job which should pay no less than the NLW and a part time position at Sainsburys which is a minimum of 12 hours a week (with additional overtime). You also have a partner who, I presume, works full time and contributes towards the household bills.
This is by no means a rant at you but rather a concern that either a) you’re working too much for very little gain, b) there’s something amiss with your total overall debt situation that hasn’t been fully declared on here or c) both applies.
No one should have to do what you’re doing just to pay back sub £5k????
i learnt a few years ago that money DOES NOT bring lasting happiness but great friends and great memories do, so having more YOU TIME is absolutely paramount no matter how much debt you’re swimming in.
