  • Meeting scheduled with HR tomorrow about pay.. #fingerscrossed.

My hope is for a raise of at least £1.20 an hour which will put me in line with the trainee's below me.

Better yet would be an increase that would put my wage between the trainee's and the top ranked skilled professionals as I am only partially skilled in the field but still management. That would be £1.70 an hour increase.

We shall see. My manager has been a little discouraging regarding the viability of my request due to overall business budget restrictions (not my concern or problem) but I've got further without her by at least getting a meeting scheduled with HR as my concern is fair practise.

    So we shall see.

  • Greetings all... just awaiting my friend arriving at the airport.

HR told me I have a good case for a raise. They have to approach the owners who have a way of grading pay according to skill set. The owners are on site at the moment. HR said approaching them has to be a finely tuned affair so I might have to wait until they are back in the UK on November 9th. So.. we shall see. I am off for a week.now so would like to get back to a positive responce but I might have to wait.

6 months tax might not be worth it. Noted to be £99. I need to recheck this as it doesn't seem right considering 12 months is £170.

  • Morning all..

    So no pay rise yet.

They offered a 50p increase which I declined. The HR girl said "this is more than the staff".. I had to correct her as she had her amounts backward. Despite me being very clear when I went to her initially. This still an extra 70p less than the staff below me (Full amount £1.20). They have said I need to wait until they speak to the owners who are here at the moment. I will approach again tomorrow though as its been 2 weeks since I declined this offer and asked for a proper raise.

I said I will accept a 70p raise at an absolute push but I need a good reason as to why I would be paid less that skilled staff of which I share the same skill and take over when they take days off.

    So I shall wait.

My manager has said she has had enough of the job. I don't want her job but we are both looking for the out I think. Just hard to fathom in my area...

Dentist was £434 this week / Mechanic was £256 / Extra car parts were £275.80. Full Total this week in cash = £965.80. Nothing on Credit but means my yearly total is now a little screwed. Car parts were not overtly necessary..(?) but my locks don't work all the time so I got the front drivers door one to see if that fixes the entire issue and a rear window wiper bits and bobs.. amazing how expensive all the bits were for that. I don't want to drag 2022's issue into 2023.

I would have liked to see a full £6k in the pot on the 31st December but I shall be happy with what I can get hold of and it should be £5450. Will fill sink funds with this - they start accumulating 3 months wages - that will take until June. 2023 will be a very frugal year - with ways and means of earning more £££ somehow.

Car Tax is the next payment - £180 this year. Gone up by £10. Cheeky sods. Half the year is £99. Not worth the extra and I have £175 coming in from a switch account to First Direct. Hopefully in the next few weeks.

So a few Christmas gifts will come from wages so the 3 family members can have something to open on the day - we are not big on massive gifts as we are all adults.

Looking on ways to earn more. Looking on ways to get a better job. Need to do that now or I will regret it.

    Over and Out.

  • Oh - finally hit the £300 mark with Vinted.

Loading a few more slightly more expensive items this week.

Would like another £200 before the end of the year.

Head cold is preventing me from wanting to do anything.

  • It's awkward when the local jobs are few and far between, but at the same time knowing you're underpaid doesn't sit right.

Ouch to the bills, but they're done for a while.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Well exactly. So it will be interesting to see if I get any feedback tomorrow or have to wait. I think I might be small fry in this establishment. Massive work going on in January so they may use that as an excuse not to pay more. However, their refurbishments are not my concern.

Yes bills are done for now. I just REALLY want to somehow get the missing money back to see the well rounded amount but it might be hard without the pay rise.

Time will tell. I will be back to update either way.

Well done on paying for car and the dentist. They are v expensive and it is great that you could pay the bills. Excellent news on vinted sales. Throughout my career i have realised that businesses will do their best to pay you as little as possible for as long as they can. The fact you have challenged them is great as now they have to deal with it.
