Money Moral Dilemma: Should I offer to pay part of my friend's parking fine?

No. I would not feel any obligation to pay part of the parking ticket fine. I was a passenger and had no input as to where my friend parked his car. Had there been a parking meter fee, I would have paid that.0

What is it with this thread???Cant one of the mods close it, it is serving zero purpose except attracting moronic posts, and people would be better off going to the newbies thread.no wonder the PPC are raking it in.If this person is a true friend you would look at helping them to overturn the parking ticket - or at least understand how to overturn itFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Please do take note of Coupon-mad.
It's absolutely crazy just to pay any 'fine' that's been given out.
You don't always necessarily have to pay every demand for money. This needs looking into very carefully. I'd say post the query yourself on the correct part of the site - under "Travel and Transport", then 'Motoring' and it's there, 'Parking tickets, Fines and Parking'.
There are a lot of people on that site who can help if they have more information. There are ways and means to appeal. Please don't pay or let your friend pay either. Yet.Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. Verify everything in order to protect yourself as you are responsible for any action you consequently take.3 -

Plus although you call for one of the mods to close the thread, one of the mods actually opened it.
And also, hopefully the person actually asking the original question will eventually get the message to go to the right place and ask for help with the demand for payment. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Yep this is a regular feature, a 'money moral dilemma'. It's meant to cause debate and it has!
Just surprising that MSE has presented this as if any 'parking fine' has to be automatically paid, rather than using the forum to appeal (and complain to landowners if it's a private one).
Channel 5 got that advice right in 'Parking Con?' last month.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you value the friendship, offer to pay half and don't wait to be asked. He was doing you a favour. As others have said, so check if it's from the council or private security - your friend may not be aware of the difference and you could save the money.1
-
It probably is his responsibility but he can't know every appropriate parking place in his area - and I think a good friend would offer to pay half without a second thought ...Just saying ...0
-
A better friend would offer advice on a way how neither of them could pay anything.
Just saying ...Jenni x4 -
IMO neither should pay anything but contest it. After all thes ticfckets are nearly all scams. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.2

Friend is responsible as the driver, you don't offer to pay if they sped, jumped a red light or anything else.0
