Yes I agree it’s his car and his responsibility
However, if you value his friendship offer to to either fight the charge/pay half. Then at least you have offered an olive branch.Clara Sais - Vlogger and Mummy0 -
His fault entirely! Tell him to be more careful where he parks! The 'Captain' of the 'ship' is responsible & liable! Don't feel obliged to pay up!0
-
How do we know it's his fault?
How do we know the 'ticket' is fair as we don't know who issued it.
How do we know it is a 'fine' because that's what people call private parking charges too, that are not to be just paid unquestioningly.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Many unanswered questions given the minimal amount of information provided.Whats the point of this thread then - its only wasting peoples time , even more so if the OP can not be bothered to answer questions that are being asked - and the key is Who issued the ticket?????And the correct answer is that assistance should be provided in understanding the parking ticket, and how to challenge it.It could be a council ticket, or it could be a full on scam placed on the vehicle by a scumbag scammer

Of course one should check if it can be contested, but the moral question here was 'if it had to be paid, should one pay half?'. My partner paid half my fine when we parked in Morrisons thinking it was 3 hours, only to discover they had reduced it from 3 to 2 hours some time previously. BUT this was because he would normally have taken me in his car, but we went in mine because his was in for service.

You never had a fine In Morrisons, you've been mugged / conned /tricked into paying

Why do a few MSEers think they have to pay parking charges that retailers and supermarkets (and many other landowners) would cancel in ten minutes flat?
It's not just a question of looking at a sign afterwards and thinking you are bang to rights.
If a free parking period was reduced so significantly there needed to be extra massive signs up to alert people who are not aware.
And even if those signs were huge, Morrisons are particularly great at cancelling these extortionate £100 charges for customers and would have cancelled it anyway to retain your custom.
Here is a recent example updated today where Asda promised (but at first failed) to cancel a charge that a shopper had felt intimidated into paying:

Outcome (finally): charge refunded by ParkingEye. It is never too late to complain to a landowner about these scam charges. They contract the parking firms. They can cancel them.
So frustrating that MSEers who don't usually come to this board are telling us on this thread, that they've actually PAID private parking charges instead of coming here and learning how to cancel them easily.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No, they were driving and selected parking spot so its their responsibility. Like you said you dont know the are but they do.If they went through a red light coz you were in the car expecting you to pay half too?0
-
Going through a red light is a criminalised traffic offence. Completely different.
This 'fine' might be like the other private ones the two posters on this thread should never have paid (VCS and ParkingEye at Morrisons).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
