Thank you! It's in brine so I could try draining some and covering with olive oil, and I might freeze a few and see how they go as well. Olives are one of the things that I rarely finish and it seems such a shame.

I've done the 'replacing brine with oil' thing with olives, and it works fine and extends their life - hate it when the brine goes all scummy

What is a cartouche please? I'm willing to give it a try but I've no idea what I'm doing! :D
A cartouche is a piece of greasing paper or similar placed over the top of something (in this case your olives) to prevent a skin from forming.
Thanks! That doesn't sound too difficult. :) Certainly worth bearing in mind once the fridge collection gets down to size and I can move things without fear of a cascade.

Yes, and it might happen sooner rather than later in this weather. Thanks for the recommendation.

In: The bowl for my 'new' icecream maker - 2 venerable mangoes pureed, and mix is in the fridge

Out: Squash and chickpea curry, bagel, ice-cream, bread, sweetcorn, diced mutton for tomorrow's curry

Not taken out: the bacon for last night. Fortunately it was fairly warm still, so we did pasta salad instead

Out: various ends of veg and part of a watermelon, all gone to the compost. A sad waste, but beyond use. :( Also a part jar of jam that had gone mouldy despite fridge.
