My grandad used to call me by his 3 daughters' names before getting to mine - this went back to when he was just his 50s 😃 I also run through my children's names sometimes before I get to the correct one! 🤣😁

😂 I’ve the opposite problem dd and ds1’s sound similar so I used to call one and the other would  answer 😬

Argh, just got started a receipe for honey slow cooked chicken, made all the sauce and the chicken was off 😡 will keep the sauce for tomorrow and get some more I guess, can’t be bothered to go out now! All the kids are off to truck fest - not a festival of big trucks (as I almost bought tickets for one year for their birthdays 😆) but a music festival, so an empty house from tomorrow until Monday, we are doing birthday cake tonight as they will be away on the day. The hallway is a mountain of camping gear and trays of beer!

Not fun here today, woken up by two firemen blocking the road due to a burst main, chatting way too loudly for 5am, so no water all day, then the water board cut the electric cable so now no power either 🤦🏼‍♀️ Managed to get the car out (our road now shut) to get ds1 to mums for a shower before they left first thing for the festival.

Popped to ikea as was totally fed up and hot and bought a storage cube thingy I’ve been meaning to get for a while, it just fits height wise under the eaves so very happy as it was £30 and £3 each for pull out baskets, it will hold a fair bit hopefully.

Hopefully you have electric today and water. Always love going around IKEA and keep telling myself no candles. How is your husband getting on at work now. Are the new owners better? They were really awful and ruthless previously. Take care xx

Hi MMP thanks for popping in hope you are well 🙂 everything is back in now, we even lost internet the same day too though 😂

Dhs bosses are not really very involved , the owner has only ever visited on the day he viewed the business, way too busy and important… no more pay cuts so far for dh this year,  but they are not doing that well apparently. His private work is picking up though, but there’s no where near enough to quit and really he shouldn’t be doing so much , it’s a battle to get him to say no sometimes! The extra money vanishes into the corporation tax pot from years past though, hopefully not forever but I don’t get involved with those finances much 🙄

With an empty house today I had the chance to give dh an ear bending about the next few years financial plans-  I love a good plan! however I’ve been a bit stuck in no man’s land with all this lately. Dh to be honest didn’t have much of opinion either way on what we should be focusing on.

So I’ve decided to not decide 😂 long term plans have changed so much over the last couple of years and I feel it’s led to much less motivation on my part getting mortgage free. When I think back to the past I enjoyed setting min challenges and shorter term goals, it seems easier being in smaller chunks and is less longer term pressure.

So that’s the new plan 😁 we still need to remortgage for the end of September but I already know I’ll (unusually) go for a longer term fix of probably five years to be on the safe side. Hopefully the natural mortgage free / frugal living mindset will kick back in and I get back to how things used to be.

It’s quite recent I think, last two /three years maybe , I don’t actually know as dh deals with the business stuff.

Now there’s not as much pressure to set a timeframe for the whole mortgage I shall tackle the accounts today 😬 I have bought a couple of bits this week I’ve not written down yet - very old fashioned I know! Two pairs of Skechers flip flops on offer, tried on in the Skechers shop at £50 and ordered on amaz@on for £18/29 a pair. I have no comfy summer shoes and have tried so many and sent back, I hope these work out , although when I popped round mums she was wearing them the other day, so they are not exactly trendy 😂

It’s the boys birthdays today, 22! They are at the festival and have not been seen on WhatsApp for days so either have no signal or are having too much fun! Wife and girlfriend are with them as are eighteen friends, plus two of their (and thanks to them my) favourite bands are playing , The big moon and blossoms, not jealous of the portaloos but very jealous of seeing them 😁

Festival goers came back Monday, well two came back 2am Monday morning as they had had enough of festival camping, apparently the loos were the worst they had ever been and that’s saying something for them 😆 so a very low key birthday.

I spent the day looking at the trips we have coming up, dh’s 50th two week cruise to Russia was cancelled a couple of months before the invasion and I booked two separate week long ones instead for the same price. Now I’ve noticed I’ve not booked parking for the first one and all parking is sold out at and near the port 😩 we can get the coach from central London but that sounds like a pain with cases , plus it will no doubt be a strike day! Park on my drive is a possibility, but I think the best option is one night in a nearby hotel with cruise parking included, so about £220 including dinner bed and breakfast plus a return transfer, it could be worse I guess as port parking is £100 odd usually.

This is an example of my brain turning to mush lately and everything sliding, not sure why but I think time of life is having a big impact on me lately in lots of horrid ways of which this is just one 😆

So to help mushy brain today I have a list to complete!

    • Book hotel /parking
    • Book airport parking for second cruise
    • Book airport parking for Poland Xmas market November
    • Do food shop
    • Pick mortgage and apply!
    • Pay dh’s speeding fine -£100 😡
    • Book couple of excursions for cruises as it’s special occasion 😬
We had a nice surprise yesterday as a squirrel came up to the spare room window and let DIL feed her by hand, so we need to get her some more nuts today, I’ve named her Hazel 😁
