Thanks guys 😊
It’s going well so far, we didn’t go to rome today as it’s a long day and it was probably a wise choice, the local port town has a religious festival today with a huge market which we saw instead, Rome is very hard to move around at the moment for obvious reasons.I might cancel the drinks package for the second week, it’s taken a lot of my time up working out each day if we are breaking even and if we need to order more 😆 and mostly we are not. We also splashed out on a £££ trip to visit Pompeii tomorrow, at about £80 each, it’s the only trip we booked for this week and is one dh will particularly enjoy.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Ooh, enjoy Pompeii - there was a series on BBC2 called 'Pompeii: The New Dig' a few weeks ago which is definitely worth watching on iPlayer if you haven't seen it.'A watched potato will never chit'...3

Thank pink poppy I’ll have a look 🙂
Pompeii was very interesting sadly though we didn’t see nearly as much as we expected to about an an hour and a half a half tour which missed a fair bit. It was 27 degrees but felt a lot hotter and boy was it busy, thousands of people! Dozens of coaches ,so not the most easy of trips out,but worth it. Poppies everywhere which I don’t expect too.Not sure if I should post bodies really 😳but here’s a couple of others!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -

Thank you for letting us join you in Pompeii newgirly - I've never been, and didn't realise about the poppies either.

The family have arrived! They decided not to get off in Valletta as they were tired (such an amazing city!) so went out on our own twice yesterday. After I fancied an excursion (£62 each) that took you on a coach to ten mins away to another town to do a boat trip past Valletta, I saw some little traditional wood small boats doing a round trip from nearby for €10 each instead, they dropped a couple off after the first five mins at a nearby harbour then we had half an hour on our own which was amazing 😊 back in the afternoon for a walk around and an icecream from the fancy shop the same as the one in York, I got flustered and pointed to a photo of one of the cones that look like a flower, he said oh the special and I ended up with massive version of it that then cost €26.95 for two 😱 couldn’t even finish it and was annoyed with myself for the rest of the day 😂
The finances need a good checking over today I think, I’ve got to find £400 for the deposits we have paid on two more cruises we booked while we are onboard 😬 in my defence we got some serious savings! You get double onboard credit if booking inboard (not a huge amount for us as we buy cheap cabins) but about an extra £100 per cruise I think. The real savings were because it was presale time for 2027 while we’re were onboard where you pay a deposit for a particular grade of cabin on new cruises and then request a cabin number on release day. So basically we have booked a two week fly cruise the same time as this in 2027 with a similar itinerary but a few new destinations such as turkey and Montenegro , then a two week in October on the same year going to Morocco 😁
The savings for the first trip which I obviously compared on release date are £728 in total and the second cruise is a £776 saving! This making the two week med fly cruise including flights and transfers £77.42 per day each and the two week non fly one £75.71 per day. Considering what included it’s amazing, cruises are defiantly not for everyone and have their drawbacks but we do find it can be done relatively cheaply for how far you can go.Anyway sorry to be a holiday bore! 😆 back later to asses the spending damage 😬
oh and we have decided to hold back on this holiday booking info with family for the moment 🤣MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Sounds like you are having an amazing time! Forget about the ice cream thing, I bet it tasted great and the savings on the boat trip more than paid for it. Don't forget you're MF now, you can have the occasional wild spend 😀😀😀
The future cruises sound awesome, and that's a great price 👍Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
