We are going in the winter, over Christmas next year actually. And somewhat strangely, the Christmas dates we booked ended up way cheaper than any other time I found, even compared to other winter dates! I also always thought that it would be way out of our budget, but I think we paid around £1,700 each for 12 nights, outside cabin, double bed, with flights included (and meals too of course), which for that sort of thing didn't seem too bad. There were some other dates that were around twice the price.

Wow that’s a great price especially for Xmas 🌲 I absolutely loved being in the arctic last year, it was magical, I’m sure you will have an amazing time and there’s a free cruise if no lights promise too I believe with that cruise line? 

It’s been a busy few days catching up with the elusive ds1 and dd 😊 dh and I went to ds1’s local craft ale Indy “pub” a few nights ago, and I popped out with dd for brunch yesterday which turned into a Xmas shopping trip, very helpful as I don’t know what to get her dh and step DGD , now they are done 😬 I think I’ve spent too much of my personal spends money though 😱 how much for sandwich in a coffee shop chain now?!

I’m awake far too early today, I’m hoping dh will attempt some more decorating, he’s very busy at work (as always) and needs a rest however I really want it doing before Xmas 😩 I can have a go myself but my back was bad enough to need tablets yesterday so stripping the stairs is not ideal, it’s mainly shoulder, arm and collarbone pain still lingering usually. I think I’ll have to go to the gp if it’s still around after a few more weeks. I think I’ll put money on him not doing it today and going to work instead though….

Hectic day today, dh has removed the old stair carpet and started clearing it all up and prepping, plus we also acquired a new wall unit this morning as I spotted one on the local regifting site. It is a large retro Gplan that comes apart in sections and was in like new condition, apparently they said they had tried to sell it with no luck which I’m very surprised at as they go for a lot of money now. So lots of mess and moving around that’s still not finished with but I’ve given up for now. 

I’ve got to crack open the vinted pot now I think as I’ve ordered paint for the stairs and things are just getting too tight! The vinted pot when cleared now stands at £1031.38 😱

Amazing Vinted pot size!! Any tips? I have 12 things on there hanging around and not sure if I should start doing more reductions or adding more things to bump up my presence.

Sorry the cruise wasnt great. On the nutrition side the more beans you eat the better for you and your weight, high in fibre and they are slow carb so make you feel full for longer. Your lentil dal with coconut milk sounded lovely

I spent £2 bumping one of my Vinted items that’s had been in there for ages. I dropped the price gradually and it’s sold today. Well done on the G plan sounds lovely.

Hi lady, I’m not sure I can can offer advice as I seem to be stuck with a lot of items now £1-3 or so which should have sold but seem to be stuck, I think you are right and adding new does help, I usually just reduce until I can’t reduce anymore. Oh and I will be making a bean chilli as well as the Dahl this week 🙂

Hi TallGirl, I’ve not paid to bump items but I guess it’s worth it for higher priced items?

Asleep very early last night and awake at 4.30am exactly again, how does that happen? I  Will be tired all day now 😩  I’m out today taking mum to the shops and then trying to clean up the weekends mess and work out where the new furniture should go, I’m not sure I love the new furniture yet, it’s quite big and dark but does go well in our living room we will see! 

Todays plans then are : 

cleaning again 

do a load of washing

make a chilli (after buying passata) 

post two vinted parcels 

list a couple more items 

jiggle the finances, I’m running very short, don’t want to crack open the vinted pot and wondering if I can shift one of the things I’m budgeting for now until next year (specifically spending money for my birthday trip?) 

buy hair dye in sup@erdrug 

See if there’s anything in boots to use my £6 of points towards a stocking filler for somebody 

wrap up dgd’s Xmas presents - I will wrap each person as they are completed in advance this year 

Ring medical supplies place to order blood checker without vat hopefully! Paid for by dh 😊

find thermal clothes for best friend to borrow for a Lapland trip

Newgirly that is some list hope you get there. Yes mine was a more expensive item I had dropped it gradually from £50 to £35 and when it was bumped I got loads of favorites and finally an offer of £30 which I was happy with. For cheaper items I don't think it is worth it.

Sorry NG, realised I didn't get back to you about your cruise vs flying query. But the article Julicorn shared, was accurate. And it was clear that it's not just the carbon that's the issue. 😬

I really hope you are not trying to get through all that list today! You are still recovering from the operation and need to listen to your body (I am absolutely sure you're fed up of everyone telling you this, but it's true!). Great find on the G-Plan. I think larger furniture items are difficult to shift these days as so many people live in tiny houses (new builds, not actual tiny houses!), without the room to accommodate them. I think using the Vinted pot for the decorating and/or your spending money for your birthday trip might be a good idea.

I mostly finished the list on Monday, felt a bit tired Tuesday so maybe did overdo it 🙄 went to the gym yesterday and managed a slow walk on the treadmill then a few mins on the sit down bike and had to give up. 

In more fun news I had an exciting evening last night watching ds1 on Martin’s tv show 😬 he was in shot a few times for a while too! I’m very pleased that although he’s still out all the time having fun travelling and at gigs that they also op the mortgage every month and he has an interest in financial planning and money saving, dd has also been brainwashed by me (she remembered me printing off martins money guide for her as a teenager 😆) and they have overpaid their mortgage by quite a lot from day one, plus ds2 is very frugal as they are saving to buy their first place, so it was one of those moments and they don’t happen very often where it feels like I’ve had a positive impact on raising them all 😂 plus I get to ask ds1’s advice on my utility’s switching! 

Payday for dh today, plus the budget of course, I shall be back later with an update 😊
