That’s not great to hear as we have paid a deposit and taken out the insurance already ☹️ I did do a bit of review reading and it seemed to have good reviews mainly. I guess we will have to look into monitoring that, can we regularly check the smaller battery I wonder and top it up? Did your car not do the miles it was showing as having left then? I know dhs work vans  (ren@ult and citr@en)  hammered the battery in very hot or cold weather.

After our cruise last year, Mr MV is constantly on about going on another one (the man who gets travel sick looking at a boat!) ... I keep putting him off with the carbon cost (even though Virgin are very good, relatively speaking), but we'll have to go on another one at some point (in a few years!). The carbon for last year's doubled our consumption! 😬

Hmm, I think there were teething problems with some MGs, but if yours has made it this far, hopefully it's not one of them? 🤞 I hadn't heard that the 12V battery was an issue though (as I said, we did some research on MGs before opting for Tessa (her name!)).

I think there’s a way you can track the battery on an app, I’ll have to have a look into it.

How does cruising compare to flying then, I know you avoid that now?

Definitely get the app for the car - imagine it has lots of useful features (including preheating for cold weather!).

Cruising is far worse per mile! 😬 Won’t always avoid flying - it’s not always practical, but I figure if I avoid what I can then it’s all helpful (and will salve my conscience for those occasions when we do fly/cruise) (please note, there’s no judgement from me - we are all on our own journeys, and I totally get why you love cruising!)

You can measure your carbon footprint quite well here: giki.earth - it’s very customisable (not perfect) and granular.

I’ll have a look at that thanks 😊

Sorry if this is a dumb question but is it worse if say 3000 people cruise to for example New York and back or if 3000 people fly there and back? I assumed cruising would be better per person though it’s a way longer time travelling? I hope so as I’d much rather cruise than fly 😳

Well we collected the new car today, dh is so happy 😊 they charged it up with 25 miles though which only just got us home which was a little annoying after we asked for it to be charged up well on Sunday. Ds2 and dil have been out and made a fuss and he took them for a drive in it, that was quite sweet of them. After not eating much all day I came home and ate a ton of the lentil Dahl I made in the sc, two cans of full fat coconut milk and it was sooooo good, it’s nice to have something to come to in the slow cooker especially when it gets better with time not worse as can sometimes happen if you cook for too long, I’m thinking of sludgy veggies in casseroles here  🤢

Need to check the finances tonight, I’ve spent a bit in h@me b@rgains today as my Aunt visited and wanted to go there, so many nice Xmas bits but I resisted most of it (not all!), if a I can stay awake I shall pop back later and update 😬

Thanks for the link juliecorn, I know a few lines are aiming to be less wasteful, but clearly there’s still a lot of emissions on most 😳 I’m very jealous of your hurtigruten cruise 😬 I looked at that for our northern lights trip as it stops off constantly so you see so many more places,  it was so much dearer though then what we ended up booking. Are you going during summer or winter?

Finances checked now and I’m £5.66 over my £333.33 per month budget for this month plus there’s a week to go 😩 I’ll have to spend a bit more even though it’s a £1000 October to new year challenge, hopefully I can rein it in a bit later on without compromising too much on all the litttle winter treats we might like 😁
