Gosh it must be so stressful jessy 😳 we had a few running round and round little dog and it’s clearly upsetting for her, woman walks right by us in an empty field as says nothing, why are people so rude! The field hire is a great idea though, I think there’s one very near us, perhaps we should book it as a treat 😊
Takeaway curry last night for my brothers birthday, my parents paid and I’ve no idea what it must have cost as two of the kids and partners and aunt came and I heard them say shall we get a few large pilau rice for £7.50 or smalls for £4.50 😱 Whaaaattttt?! when did rice become £4.50? We don’t ever buy takeaways now, or eat out unless it’s toast or we are away, now I’m worried as I said I’d buy ds1 and girlfriend and curry when he comes to finally finish clearing his room to bribe him, I might need a loan 😆
I’ve listed a few more things on vinted, around a dozen or so, there’s still lots of stuff now sat there for ages, stuck at the £1/2 mark, I might have to do a cull eventually. I’ve put in an offer for a dress, I’m about to list the same exact one on there in a smaller size sadly 😢 it was always a little small for me anyway so probably sensible even if I do lose weight, I love that you are able to do this and can get rid of whatever is too big or small and re buy it if it’s a favourite, it should save so much space in the long run avoiding the “can’t throw it away I might fit in it again” issue 😂
Juts claimed £10 on tcb and am at 99% complete on new vista for a £50 voucher, except I keep getting screened out, is this on propose I wonder or juts s@ds law….MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
As I tend to have plain rice with a curry, on the rare occasion we do order a takeaway, I just bung some in the instant pot and save a couple of quid on them cooking it - no effort required on my part! Imagine there’s an easy pilau recipe out there, but you don’t breed extra work at the moment.
Could you bundle some of the items together that aren’t selling?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Indeed Vix, it’s really not worth the money, at at push I’d use the pouches for 50p odd if feeling lazy but they were paying so…. 😆

Sold another item, £3 on an old jersey dress.
Dh is painting the ceilings in the living room 🥳 I want to do the walls but I can’t do the ceilings as my collarbone etc. is still not up to it after the op. I’ve spent some money as we needed plaster (to fill the hole in the hallway that was boarded after a leak) plus 2x ceiling roses - only the polystyrene ones, to go in the living /dining room. They are quite plain but I want to add a bit more character, ideally I’d like a picture rail too. Total spend is £61.60, I’ve put it on the grocery card for the moment, I don’t know why really it’s just wishful thinking that we would have that spare this month 😆 I will pay for it if i need to from personal spending money and the £10 tcb and £10 cash I have, hopefully not though!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
I had a successful trip the the huge bootsale yesterday morning 😀 dh and I met our work pal as it’s between where we both live and he loves to wander around there. Picked up seven items of dolls house furniture for £2 each and it’s great stuff at a huge saving, an aga, Welsh dresser, loads! Plus I got two gravy boats for Xmas, one woods ware beryl and one a floral wedge wood, £5 for both. I’ve a rather large collection of Emma bridgewater (I started buying it after giving up alcohol 😬) which is mismatched so I feel like it will fit in ok, I do have a few jugs I could have used but I feel gravy boats in saucers are more grown up 😆 this is of course to have on the Christmas dinner table. I’ve only ever done Xmas once with everyone and once in lockdown with all the kids and partners living with us which was fantastic! My parents have always done it and I do feel a bit sad I’ve missed out, but it suited us at the time as we could spend the morning with the kids playing and then go for lunch, I think they would like to still do it , but it’s my turn now and I’m going all out , food and fun wise I should add, present wise we have massively cut down since last year.
After the bootsale we went to early opening xmas garden centre where I saw a gorgeous charcuterie board 🥰 this is something I would like to have and we often do picky bits on small boards of the kids come over, I NEED one now I’ve seen it, but it was £38 😩 so I didn’t buy it….I might mull it over and go back nearer Xmas, or start a charcuterie board savings pot 😂
Today is dil’s birthday, I need to pop downstairs to put up banners soon, after the long bootsale walk yesterday I laid around upstairs tired from about 2pm so have trusted dh to clean up after his plastering attempts 😱 Also there’s 7 vinted items to post today, although a few are in the depths of the loft space as I listed them ages ago, and one lady requested the post office send it as she lives somewhere remove so that means a trip to town and a bit of a walk or paying for parking, it was a £17 dress though so worth the effort! Then off to the shopping centre this morning too with mum to buy a top for dads birthday tomorrow, very last minute for me, followed but a sainsburys click and collect and then having a sky engineer round as the broadband is apparently not working well it says online, plus I need to buy a cake for dil and will maybe have dd and sil round later to help eat it!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Sky didn’t turn up, I’ve no conformation of the appointment so I’m not sure why, now they are coming today, I’ve just cancelled a friend that was popping I over for lunch as I’ve woken up feeling tired with a sore throat so I think I’ve caught ds2’s cold 😩
Nice day yesterday as I went with my parents to Hyde hall for a wander round the gardens, then we went to Burnham on crouch for a ploughman’s by the water, I paid as it was dads birthday. In other very exciting news, I’ve got travel insurance now I’ve stopped the last heart rate tablets 😁 (yesterday so hopefully no I’ll effects) and it ended up being way less than other quotes, £145 instead of the £450 odd I was expecting 🥳 I thought the best use for this ‘extra’ money I saved was to book a night away, which then turned into a mini cruise next month 😱 I thought I’d add the vinted money to pay for it, £289 for a balcony cabin each for four nights to Ireland and Dorset on a cruise line we have never been on. Well the long and short of it is my parents are now coming too, but have insisted on paying for us 😱 I still need to pay for drinks and £99 parking, but I’m so excited, it was very near the top of my list of things I wanted to do after the heart surgery 😊
Last night i managed to claim a £50 voucher from new vista surveys, I was going for m@s to get posh Xmas bits from the pre order catalogue but plumped for tesc@ instead so I can put it towards bubbly as it’s on offer for 25% off 6 bottles, sounds a bit spendy but that was always the point , to not use real money for the Xmas luxuries 😬 I’ve got £1 a day savings building up to a years worth on 1st December so that’s Xmas covered hopefully! We are very cheap with food all year round so like to go for it at Xmas 🌲MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁9 -
Well ds2 and dil have passed on their cold and it’s really floored me! Went to bed about 4pm yesterday after popping out in the morning for a few hours. I’ve just come off the last heart tablets so am not wanting to overdo it until I know if there’s a reaction, great timing 😩
I’ve managed to renegotiate my sky contract this week, they came out to make the broadband faster Monday which consisted of unplugging the phone line and it’s still fairly slow 😳 so we have upgraded to fibre and I’ve got the bill down from £92 to £66.50 per month, for the fibre broadband, basic package sky, HD, Netflix family account plus multi room add on. It’s a lot but it’s our main form of entertainment here 😆
I went ahead and booked the drinks package for the mini cruise, not what we would normally do- both parties in a cabin need the same package so not worth it as I don’t drink, but this cruise line seems cheap for cruises but very pricey for drinks 😱 £9 for a bottle of ale, £14 for a spirit! Plus I think a tip on top? So we went for the basic alcohol one for £37 a day each, you can’t take any of your own drinks onboard (I usually take my own coffee and milk for the cabin 😆). At least dh can let his hair down in the evenings and have a few drinks without me getting the calculator out and stressing 😬
Today I shall have a good go over the finances, as I’ve been keeping an eye but not really tracking what I’m spending on certain things like food, I’ve got very slapdash and that needs to stop or we will derail as the end is getting closer. I need to check we are still at an end date of March when I’m 50 next year, be it with a large 0% cc bill now 😆
