When my dh finished work he decided to take over the cleaning, shopping, washing, ironing.
I worked out that I just needed to lower my standards. At least something is being done.We now have a cleaner and I have realised we all do things differently. My mum and dad used to have a caravan, at the end of the stay mum was happy and thought the cleaning had been done if the mirrors were polished. My view was that the fridge was clean and my cousin thought it was clean if the carpet was vacuumed.5 -
Thanks so much everyone, I’m trying to chill out re the housework, he’s not very proactive in doing it which is the biggest problem. It’s already once a week instead of all the time, although now ds2 and wife are home they can help out a bit, the other two are never around so not so much use 🙄 he needs to be nicer and I need to back off basically 😆
I’ve spent a few hours writing basic info on who our providers are, passwords for accounts, mortgage and email etc. for dh and I’ve written letters to the kids and dh which I’ve put away, that was hard I have to say but I think it’s the right thing to do as you want to say it in person but that would upset them so this is a better way.
I’ve spent some of my personal spending money too today, after a £10 off email from n@xt I’ve finally ordered the trainers I’ve been debating since I saw my aunt wearing them, other places had them slightly cheaper but were sold out so they were £64 after the voucher 😱 officially the dearest trainers I’ve ever bought (for me anyway) they are the sk@chers slip ins, basically the ones that have a stiff padded back so you don’t need to bend down to put them on, I wear that brand anyway as they are comfy and my old ones are very scruffy now so thought in the circumstances they would be useful. At least that’s finished the day on a brighter note 😁

💙💙💙💙💙💙💙MONTH 19 OF THE 33 MONTH CHALLENGE💙💙💙💙💙💙
Balance at start- Oct 2022: £61,452.11
Balance 30th April: £26,304.69
Total since month one: £35,147.42
Total for April: £1909.46
Another month ticked off 🙂 I’ve worked out where the extra will come from to pay the balance on the October cruise we booked, basically the mortgage overpayments, but it will still finish on the same month as before (as the overpayments are large and there was a surplus on the last month if that makes sense)
We have £400 in a pot for extras while I’m in hospital and I’ve transferred dh £100 to his account extra for travel and snacks etc. hopefully most of that won’t be needed while I’m in and I can move that to something else afterwards.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -

Thanks guys 🙂
I’ve been spending on my last trip out and about yesterday, bought a hanging basket to go by the front door so I can see it while sitting around in the living room 😆 and a big sit up cushion thingy for me to sit downstairs after the op with, plus I bought myself and dil ice cream at the cinema (we never buy anything usually) and a new power bank as mine went missing after ds2 took it on the cruise, he says he gave it back so I may well charge him.
I’ve booked a click and collect from @ldi tomorrow for dh to get, I don’t want to get too much as I’m going in Wednesday and he will be up and down at hospital, I think he can eat there if you pay extra but he’s more likely to go to the greasy spoon opposite, anyway £85 spent, as well as £50 (on the grocery card) for the bits I bought yesterday, I might pay that back from personal spends if we run out at the end of the month, but I’m hoping dh spends less than I would….
I’ve just realised this morning that this time next year (hopefully) we will be on the final month of the mortgage 😱 a strange feeling it being so close, I’m not convinced we won’t end up with another mortgage at some point but if we do it wouldn’t be a large mortgage, I can’t go back to the start again!
