That's a lovely commute from Falmer to Lewes!
I do have a sort of red flag for Lewes, though - if you have to use the High Street at the top of the hill with your car, it's a nightmare, pre-pandemic it could feel like it was gridlocked. Do some serious research about the traffic, is my advice. Oh, the other potential red flag - during the bad flooding at the beginning of the 2000s, the river level rose by thirty feet - check out flooding issues really seriously.
It's got a Waitrose and a superTesco
which is excellent
The train station has a lovely vibe to it - it's a junction, so there's a lot of space between the very central platforms (sorry, I've just realised you know all this stuff).
I've used it to walk about with visitors I've had staying, there are so many good things there. And last but not least - there's a really active Transition Town movement!
Get well soon, you guys.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Haha indeed, burning crosses every day might be a little much 😅South_coast said:I've been to Lewes bonfire a couple of times, and I'm fairly certain it's not like that all the time 🤣! Hope you're both feeling better soon x
Thank you! x1 -
Thank you! Neither of us drive, which is probably a good thing because driving round Lewes seems like a bit of a nightmare.Karmacat said:That's a lovely commute from Falmer to Lewes!

I heard that they put up some pretty great flood defenses following that flooding, but that it could still cause insurance issues. Note to self: go for top of one of the many hills rather than Riverside, haha 😄
This is really useful, thank you!2 -

Thank you Sistergold! Unfortunately not yet, I seem to have turned into a puddle of snot overnight, with all the headaches and nausea that can come with that. Hanging in there though, and at least the sun is shining and we can let lots of fresh air in.Sistergold said:Oh I hope you are now feeling better? Get well soon. 🌺🥀1 -
That is an excellent fact, thank you for sharing! Reminds me of when my colleague (who is in her late 20s, I might add) shared that the former Bishop of Lewes is a "close personal friend" of hers 😂twinklie said:One of my friends is a councillor on Lewes council. Hope you feel better soon! I went to Sussex uni. Studied politics 05-08. I was born in the SE, so if I'd known what would have happened to house prices back then I'd probably have just got a job after college and a 100% mortgage. Probably be MF by now
