I assume this is all on the word of the seller's estate agent? It's a murky old world...julicorn
They had 7 offers, none at the lower end, some in the middle, some at £575k, and some "significantly above" £575k basically.
Still, I guess all you can do is offer what it's worth to you and hope for the best. It does look like a very nice house, and so much more practical than the first love!
I think the process of buying and selling in a frothy irrational market would likely see me suffer a mental breakdown 😅 You're made of stronger stuff, best of luck with the offer!2 -
Thank you @SuperSecretSquirrel! That's actually exactly how we went about it, we both had a think separately about how much it's worth to us (given the other houses we've seen at various price points between £500k and £650k), and we somehow both arrived at the same figure
Well, ok, Mr julicorn said £625k (but really meant 'however much we can pay, I'm madly in love with it'), and I went with the slightly less rounded £626k
We'll see what they say, would be nice to hear back this morning. 1 -
Estate agent called, they have passed on the best offers to the owner, but only expect to hear back later this afternoon (and will call me back between 5 and 7). I haven't even asked any questions around whether there are higher or lower offers or ones that threw in a spare unicorn as well, it really doesn't matter at this point.
Alternatively, we now have a grand total of 7 (!) viewings booked in for Saturday. Mr julicorn is feeling quite ill unfortunately, hopefully he'll feel better by then, otherwise I might have to go on that viewing marathon on my own. It's mostly flats interestingly enough, some with very nice big gardens though.1 -
Fingers crossed you hear back one way or another this evening. Everything else crossed it's good news.
Hope Mr J feels better soon, I hate the idea of solo viewings!1 -
Thank you! And honestly I do too - I went on one last week and it was sooooo awkward! The estate agent didn't say anything either, which just made it really weird. We were just going from room to room in silence, I mean at least do a little bit of estate agent spieljenni_fer said:Fingers crossed you hear back one way or another this evening. EA just called, they went for someone who is chain free again - our offer was ever so slightly higher, but not by much.
Mr julicorn is pretty bummed, I'm not feeling too bad about it. I think the twitten house has emotionally prepared me for any kind of 'no' they can throw in our direction, haha.0
