So yesterday was a spendy day - I booked for us to go camping on the bank holiday weekend and I booked for us to go and visit family in France in December! So excited - not really planned, but out of the holiday pot so I'll refill that in next month or so. We only needed flights as they will put us up, and at less that £100 return per person, we couldn't really go wrong.

Have prolific open on my computer all day today - I'm hoping surveys might pop up!

So I went for a swim this morning - 40 lengths. I am cream crackered! But making of the most of the last week where I can rock up to work slightly late because no teaching or meetings or anything. Next week it will be back to a standard week and go go go to register students.

Message from accountant yesterday saying I was going to get tax refund this year - now the question is, do I throw it straight on CC or do I put it into my tax account knowing it will be much more next year? I think I have already made allowances for what it might be next time.... I struggle to work out in advance. He told me what next payment will be in Jan and I'll have that in tax account by November.... I feel like I'm ahead with it now, but I know next years will be more - I just can't work out when I will need that bit more...July next year or Jan the following!?!

  • Hi there bigbeff.

I would split it between the CC and the tax account.

    Wow to the swin

    Hi all,

Hope all is well. I'm feeling a bit down and out at the moment. My grandma is not doing well at the moment, she is 93 and has completely slowed down and doesn't want to go anywhere now as so tired. Worried sick, but doesn't want visitors either so only my mum and uncle going round.

Money and finance wise, things are plodding forward, sorted change pot yesterday and have £55 to pay in. That will go towards coolbox we've just ordered for camping next weekend. Looking forward to a little break.

Off to gym this morning - need to keep motivation going, it makes me feel better. Then a shop - so need to do plan for food.

Feeling a bit better today. Grandma is more positive which is good.

Been to gym again this morning for a good workout. Been cleaning this morning.

Plodding on with debt repayment - I’m hoping for a couple more prolific surveys today. Found out my tax rebate will work out as about £120 after I’ve paid accountant. Not loads, but better than nothing so I’ll be adding that to CC when it comes in - probably within next couple of weeks, we all know HMRC are quick to take but don’t like to give back!

Setting myself little 2 week targets is keeping me ultra focused :) going to see if I have anything I can list and sell this afternoon.

I’ve just been looking at the numbers again and if I can pay off £1500, I’ll have paid off half my debt. The question is, when can I do this by? I just love setting myself little targets…. I’m aiming for end of October. Might be a push, but that’s 2 more loan payments which will reduce loan by about £500 and a good lump off CC…. I’ve got this 🙂

In the meantime, I’m reducing outgoings in September - no treats. It’ll be my busy month at work. And I’m being interviewed For new role on Friday 😊

I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted! It has been busy!

I've been offered the extra hours as teacher trainer at work 😃 something new to get my teeth in. I don't think I'll be much better off financially as I'll be dropping some tutoring but it will challenge my brain and be a new string to my bow!

Spent the long weekend camping with very little signal. Lovely to get away in the sunshine and feel like I had such a nice break. Only 15 miles from home but in an area we don't really go or spend much time. So all relaxed.

Until went back to work on Tuesday and it's been manic enrolment! Came home each evening and collapsed in a heap 😂.

Paid another £300 off CC so just about to update signature. Getting there slowly!

All going well still. Not feeling too stressed being back at work. Managed a couple of prolific studies in last day or so.

Started my patchwork course yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it, a little mathematical and creative, I really enjoyed the time where I could just focus on that. Got a bit of homework to do too 🙂

  • Hello @bigbeff - catching up on everyone's diaries after being off for a few weeks.  I hope your grandma is better now?

I've been getting some Prolific surveys in too, there have been loads over the last few days to pick from. All helps towards reducing the debts :)

Congrats on the Teacher training role, I hope you enjoy it and find it rewarding in more ways than monetarily x

Thanks @LittleMissDetermined, she seems to be doing much better, and I’m going to see her tomorrow which is more positive.

Putting money to CC seems to have stalled last couple of days, I need to look at what I’ve spent and where.

Week 2 of patchwork course today, it’s keeping me entertained 🙂 then food shopping and tutoring this afternoon. Oh and I have to go and hunt down an electric key for prepayment meter. Ours stopped working yesterday so £30 credit gone until I replace, apparently no shop was answering their phone yesterday! Wish me luck!
