So it  has been a few days - I lost a whole 2lbs this week :) Right direction!

Moneywise - I have sold a couple more items on facebook and have booked in to do a table top sale in a couple of weeks time, don't know how busy it'll be but will help give me a chance to declutter.

Back to work this week, so been a little bit manic, but as I am starting to get more organised, I'm worrying less :)
Now to sort camping stuff and christmas decorations!

    Happy decluttering!

I'd second the Rave Ramsey approach of laser focus on one debt and minimum payments on the others. That's where I started, also the £1000 emergency fund. I did sometimes swap around which card I was focussing on, depending on when a 0% deal was going to end. But all my focus was on one card at a time.

It felt really good to pay off each one and then roll that payment into the next. Looking forward to the time when I just get to keep it though!!

    Good luck in your journey!
    Debt at LBM July 2017  - £42,002 (cards & loans) + £37,421 (2 mortgage consolidations)
    Car bought in Dec 2020 - £12,500
Total Debt - £54,502  (£91,923 including mortgage consolidations)

    Total Debt Jan '23 - £19,061.56 (credit cards) + £20,562 (mortgage consolidations)

Consolidated debt onto my mortgage twice in the years before LBM, so it's all consumer debt. Just focusing on clearing card debt first and letting the additional mortgages reduce with the monthly payments.

    Hi all,

I sold an old coat today, so that is another £5 odd in my pot - once I have posted I'll know for definite. Each item is slowly paying off my debts :) Every penny counts and all that - at least doing this is making me think consciously about what I am spending on.

Had a bit of a scare moment with my car yesterday - engine light came on and power save kicked in. Checked the coolant which was low and filled up. Engine light now gone off, so I am hoping that is all it was, it gave me a bit of a huge scare, because that wasn't included in my planning costs. Need to get the savings up before I can spend on that.

Just about to go through all my baking stuff in the kitchen, and box it up ready for the move... might list some more stuff on facebook too :)

I know I am slowly picking away at it, but I really wish I could make it go down sooner! Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for popping over to my diary. I am also trying to eat better for my health and waistline. I know that cutting out the junk and treats will help with the debt busting too (and make me feel much better in myself). I'm looking forward to following your journey  :)

£5.52 just banked from prolific academic surveys.

I'm going to list a couple more items on facebook now - and I have managed to fill my last tutoring spot every other week which will be an extra £60 a month :)

Today's job will be to try and devise a budget - not an easy job when income changes every month. But I need to start building my savings pot for when my tutoring goes quiet over the summer months. I need to decide how much to save and how much to pile onto debts... if I plan meals, I can plan food budget. I'm having 3 months of not buying myself any treats or clothes unless the others are falling apart! So far day 11 and I have decluttered and sold and made more by getting rid of items on facebook than I have spent on myself :)

  • Loving your diary!

I could be doing with a serious declutter too, might start a wee FB Marketplace spree see if I can make some extra pennies to chuck at a CC.

I bought a load of recipe books in The Works last year, just happened to pop in and they had loads for £0.10! Picked up way too many but what a bargain. I mean they are in a cupboard and haven't been opened since I bought them but I am going to aim to try a new recipe every weekend so will dig them out.

Will need to give that a try. This is one of my fave recipes from there - https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chilli-con-carne-recipe

I add a bit more spice to it cos we like it hot but it is super tasty.
