@Gem_gem - love the hippo.
I haven't made a hot water bottle cover but I'm certain that I've seen patterns for them. I did a quick search on free patterns in Ravelry and this is what came up.

Not the first time Fashion on the Ration has been named in the weekly letter but I've never seen a hippo make it to the hall of fame! - well done @Gem-gem!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Up to my eyebrows here in sewing - Our Nuptials is impending like billy-oh, and a lot of Other Things happening very close in time, so trying to organise wedding, honeymoon, five weeks' working away for 3 days each week, with long train commutes involved, and Easter, oh and did I mention that as well as all the sewing, I'm also doing the cooking/baking for honeymoon in self-catering rural cottage so need to do all of that too
I think I've used nearly all of the parachute that My Intended's mum acquired and sent us (in modern terms, she sent a very unexpected cheque which we know she can only just afford, hoping it would be used in some way so she feels involved, so we lashed out on a yard of pure silk-satin in gorgeous red - it will be the face-masks for the five of us at the wedding and we made one and posted it to her so she has the same).
Skirt and top are finished; my cummerbund and M.I.'s tie are both finished, sewn from the same gloriously-rich dupion silk, still some masks to make, and some kind of shrug/cardi/coatee for me to wear over top and under silk shawl as the weather is colder and I think it will look better than a thermal vest under the top
